BTR Stock Cam Big Fuel & dropin pistons/rods

I was wondering if anyone here has this combinaton and how does it sound? I'm not interested in the chop so to say but would like to get this along with their dropins and push my car a little further. I know KingLT you mentioned this in a previous thread but haven't heard much more about it (weather you pulled the trigger or not). I'm just curious if there is anyone else out there that can share some experience with it.

Here's the link to the cam and the dropins I'm looking at:

https://briantooleyracing.com/btr-6-...iston-kit.html

The bug just won't go away.................

That's a lot of work/money to go with a stock cam profile, your car would sound the same as it does now. Pick a mild camshaft that will at least net you some horsepower gains.

I'm not looking to do any work to the heads like springs and such and would like to keep the same stock profile. Just a preference of mines.

If you're doing drop ins, it's not that much more work to do cam. You will still need lifters. Stock profile cam will help maintain some bottom end with that procharger. Generally an aftermarket cam is going to move the power up in the higher rpms which is also where the procharger really starts showing out. I actually think it's a pretty good idea, not to mention it will tune easier.

Call Cam Motion, they can grind you a camshaft to whatever specs you'd like. You could add the exhaust duration of the LT4 and still use stock springs but get a bump in power.

That's the goal throw that in and make some fueling adjustments and maybe even throw a lil more timing at it and call it a day. I still have that 3.4 upper I can put that back on and make a little more boost as well.

ZLrob is the only one I know running that cam. But I believe he is happy with it.

Another mild option you might consider is the SDPC 218/228 .570 .570 114. Very easy on the valve train doesn't require heavy springs. You can get it with a 32% fuel lobe. Tech there told me they made 800whp on 12psi on their dyno with it. It was basic rods/piston/boost deal on Ethanol.

It will require some VVE and VTT tuning but shouldn't be terrible.

Cool...... I'll look into the cam you suggested and hope ZLRob can chime in with his thoughts on the cam in question.

I did that last year. What do you think of this cam profile? Looks familiar?

I run it on my LT4 build. Required nothing else as far as pushrods, valve springs, or a 0 degree lockout sprocket to run it either. Bolted right up like factory as long as you use non DOD lifters which no one wants to run on their engine either due to garbage reliability that they are known for. I run LS7's on mine and it just works. It's a wicked cam with the 32% lobe without all the extra drivability and extra hardware needed to support the cam BS that comes with an aftermarket cam which is the way all of these cams should have came from the factory. Right now, with full fueling support (dual in tank LPFP, Goliath HPFP, and 22+ injectors), Jokerz ported blower to let it breathe better, a mild 12% lower pulley, and a worked tune (including full VVE map reshaping) with the rest of my mods listed in the signature I'm projecting to be right at or around 850 RWHP on full pump E85. Currently makes 750 RWHP/ 750 RWTQ on 91 octane fuel while I'm redoing the tune. 93 would net me another 30 RWHP, putting it up to 780 but that's not available in my area hence the detune retune that I'm doing.

Don't let anyone talk you into larger cams either. Putting boost on these LT engines does not require these massive lift and duration cams that the LS platforms needed in order to make good power out of them.

Super stealth, sounds just like stock, tons of power and torque down low and up top up to the 6500/6600 RPM cutoff and no one is the wiser that I'm running anything aftermarket, all while still making about 23-24 MPG on the highway feathering the throttle. It's great.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me about it.

Thanks for the input I really appreciate it. I talked to a rep from BTR earlier this morning and they pretty much stated the same thing you mentioned. Its just better hearing it from someone that has some real world experience with it instead of listening to a sales person. I pretty much had my mind set on this cam but you just solidified my decision. Thanks a bunch for the input.
