Camaro SS 2017 From Korea, its a good idea?
Hello! I am considering purchasing a 2017 Camaro SS that, according to my research, came from South Korea. Looking at a website with the chassis number, it supposedly has 56,600 km. Could this be real or tampered with in that country?
I've already owned a 2011 Camaro V6 Automatic 6, a 2014 V6 Automatic 6, and a 2021 2.0 Turbo Automatic 8. But I like the SS, and the 2017 model is within my budget. What can you tell me about this model? Is it reliable to buy one imported from Korea? Here are some photos of the car. ![]() ![]() One website claims to be from 2017 and another from 2018; I don't know which to believe. In my country, the car would cost $40,000 USD cash. It's sold for more, but I reached that agreement with the seller who imports cars. Every response would help me make a decision. |

Zl1 front bumper and some kind of odd scoop near the rear wheel. Black hood and roof. Its definitely been tampered with.

It's obvious they modified the aesthetics to make it look like a ZL1, which doesn't bother me at all; in fact, I find it very attractive. My question is whether Camaro imported from Korea usually have their mileage rolled back, like they do in developing countries (reducing the odometer reading).
I see that Camaro are being imported to my country from Korea these days. I've been reading about it, and what worries me is that the 2017 SS generally had a lot of problems with the 8-speed automatic transmission. I read about it here on the forum and on other sites. |

If the transmission hasn't been flushed with the newer (2019+) coolant revision it can have problems. If this has been done on time and before problems had occurred it should be ok.
The hard part is.. how could you tell without test driving it? Would be a gamble. If you can find out when it got imported to Korea it may help. If it was imported before 2019 I'd wager the chances of the flush happening are much slimmer. |

DO NOT BUY. This is screaming stolen car status. Just find one in the states somewhere. Based on what I see that car should be priced at 35000 not 20. Its too good to be legit!

I would never buy a used car without the ability to look at it and drive it. Especially one from another country.

Hello. The car has already been legally imported into my country. It's being offered as an SS with a ZL1 body kit. The car has 56,600 km or 35,000 miles, as it came from South Korea. The seller is a Mr. who imports cars and also has Porsche, Nissan GT-R, and others. The car is in another city a bit far from mine, but I'll go test drive it and let you know how it goes.

Don't buy it. These cars don't have any kind of Carfax. Those bodykits can be a big warning sign that the cars suffered severe damage from a crash, cheap bodyshops then just use aftermarket parts since they are cheaper than recreating the OEM look.
Here in Europe this is an insane issue with salvage title cars that get slammed together in eastern europe but have huge saftey risks. I guy I know bought such a Mustang and after he a minor crash where the dealer had to check under the panels for repairs they found out the core structure was bascially in two halfs and just welded together very poorly. Go for a model of your region that you can somewhat find out the history of the car
