Rebuild shop for Multimatic shocks on ZLE ?

Hello everyone,

I own a 2018 ZLE in France - car is from Canada and I imported it in 2020 - but I now have a bad knocking noise coming from one of the front shocks. The car has only 17000 road kms (roughly 10000 miles) so I'm quite disapointed with the quality of these shocks.

The question is : can these be rebuilt ? I can't find a single shop willing to try. All the shops in France say they don't know the brand and fear they won't be able to source the parts, even shops who deal with competition cars. Multimatic says they are not rebuildable and that I should contact my Chevrolet dealer (only there are no Chevrolet dealers in France so when I order parts they come directly from the USA), but it's a bit like having a 911 with a leaking shock and asking Porsche if they can rebuild it : they will say they can sell you a brand new pair

So do you know if these shocks are indeed rebuildable and do you know a shop who actually rebuilds them ? I don't care if I have to send the shocks to the USA, I'd rather not pay the huge asking price for a new pair.
I've had very good experience with rebuilt shocks on my european cars : Koni, Ohlins, Sachs etc.

BTW, I have read all the threads talking about these shocks but I couldn't find an actual shop

Thank you

Hello there!

You cannot rebuild DSSV shocks. However, there are a number of alternatives that afford a better ride. Brands like Fortune Auto have the Fortune Auto 510 coilovers that are great alternatives. GMS is also working with RideTech for their release of the coilover kit.

I would wait for the release of RideTech. Trust me.

- Fully serviceable
- Tunable
- Full spectrum of spring rates available for your choosing
- Owned by Fox Shocks

That checks off every single box that a person could want or need for a track focused supercar like the ZL1 1LE

Reach out to Chris at Inertia Laboratory. He is a shock guru and I know he has worked on the ZLE DSSVs before.

Well said ROB... All of the reasons why I am excited to be helping Ridetech Test & Tune for the ZL1 1LE on my car. They are currently installed front and back, total weight savings is around 8lbs when paired with the BMR rear coil-over lower control arms (those go on this week)... should have some feedback to share with everyone next month (currently tied up with several projects)

But like Rob mentioned.... they are looking very promising.
Oh, and dont forget lifetime warranty... !!!

As I said, Chris has worked on them before. Maybe he can help. Maybe he can't. It never hurts to ask.

Where are you testing them at? Do you plan on keeping them or going back to your stock 1LE multimatic?

Here in San Diego... I dont plan on going back to the DSSV, will sell them later on... I have had 2 fail so far, and replaced them with used ones because they are so damn expensive.

We may test a few other spring rates so I dont expect to have formal feedback until early next year.... I will also be doing an awesome group buy when the time comes.

MAN those look SO nice!

Looking forward to seeing your testing on them. This is exactly what the 1LE's should have had from the jump. It's nice to see one of the two major shock companies stepping forward and making an application specific shock setup for these cars. You can never go wrong with Fox or King.

I'm sorry didn't mean to ask "location" of where you're testing lol, I meant on a road course or 1/4 mile track? Can't imagine there are that many left out that way.

Sounds like Gabe is going to need to make a road trip down to my area to do validation testing over there at Laguna Seca or Sonoma Raceway.

How 'bout it Gabe?

Judging by how clean that car is and no rubber in the fender wells, I don't think it's the type of testing we're thinking of around the block and on the highway maybe?
