2019 thru 2024 Front Plate Bracket Removal Surprise

In the past I had no problem removing front plate bracket from my Camaros. Most recently I have found that in addition to the rivets used to secure the license plate bracket to the front bumper they are using adhesive behind the rivets position making it more challenging to remove the plate bracket. For 2019 thru 2024 models you may have to face 4 rivets plus adhesive behind the 4 rivets. After using a drill to remove the rivet heads (I used a 5/16 drill bit) I used a hair dryer and a little luck to lift the plate from the rivet position adhesive. On high heat for approximately 180 seconds at each of 4 rivet positions the hair dryer loosened the adhesive enough to bend the bracket and free it from the bumper. GM Part reference number 84556845 for illustration. Notice the red pull-off tabs in attached. Try at your own risk. Good luck.

That's pretty ridiculous to use rivets AND adhesive, never seen anything but screws used on every vehicle I've bought. I absolutely hate the look of a front plate, and so have never run one (no tickets yet, knock on wood). When I got my Camaro, I told the dealer not to install the front bracket, and they didn't. Having multiple holes in my bumper would piss me off.

Mine came from TN. No front plate required. No bracket, not even one in the trunk. I also do not like the look of one on the front.

No rivets, no adhesive, and no holes on my Chevy OEM front bracket. It clamps onto the grill.

Exactly this. The bracket was in the trunk when I picked up the car. Not a single hole or adhesive is needed.

Not sure why it would be riveted to the bumper.

It is a different bracket. I did order the one you are talking about, just in case I needed it ever. The one with rivets and tape is a different design. I also would not have wanted that one mine.

Figures GM would make 2 brackets. They should know that the people who buy these cars would never want adhesive or rivets going through their bumpers.

Front plates should be outlawed. So glad Florida doesn't use them.

Just two rivets in my 16 which was surprising to me. Thankfully the holes blend in with the dark paint.

My 16 also had the two rivets, and upon removal now the two holes. I agree with everything going on with that grill and bumper, you don't notice. Still, kinda sucks, but I'll live.
