TPMS Relearn issues with new sensor
Replaced a sensor in drivers side rear tire and cannot get it to learn.
Using OEC-T5 tool, learns driver front, passenger front, passenger rear, and won't learn drivers rear. Sensor is a HUF 315/433 MHz sensor. I've set the pressure up and down on the tire a few times and driven it hoping that it was the issue, it hasn't solved the issue. Using this tool, it has always worked in the past: https://www.amazon.com/VXDAS-EL-5044.../dp/B072BK693N Using this sensor (other ones are HUF): https://www.amazon.com/BH-SENS-315MH.../dp/B08LLF84N4 It says something about programming it for the vehicle, I think this is the step I'm missing. Is this something I can borrow from an autozone/advanced auto or purchase on Amazon? Help?

Maybe the new TPMS isn’t working properly? A tire shop might be able to test the it to verify if it’s working.

Last time I replaced my sensors, the tire shop told me if I brought "pre-coded" GM sensors (such as these that I'm running now), they could skip some "initial coding" step that is required for the sensors to work.
I never tried generic TPMS units before, so I'm not sure, but our fancy scan tools may support this initial programming step.

Questions
1. Do you have IGLA or a aftermarket security system installed? 2. It is not learning at all, even when using the tool from Amazon? 3. All sensors were bought at the same time? I ask these questions because I have been having the same issues with my sensors ever since I changed them out from OEM. I replaced them twice already and had better luck with my current ones, but after a certain speed or G force, they will go out and relearn again. |

...so why don't you guys buy OEM and spend your time doing more interesting things than troubleshooting crap aftermarket sensors?

The GM sensors are always the better choice, learned from experience on other vehicles. They batteries always last longer and there's never any issues with learning. BTW, the ZL1 sensor is all metal. You sure you got the right one??
Oh, and never buy them from Amazon or Ebay. Amazon is rife with counterfeits, and the Ebay ones, possible counterfeits too but they might be old sensors...battery life will be questionable. Buy from a source that constantly moves product, RockAuto for example.

When I put my new wheels on, I opted for the generic TPMS route so could keep stock tires/wheels to sell. I regretted that decision for 18 months, 2 tires would randomly loose signal and throw the fault. Day or 2 later, would work fine for a few days, rinse and repeat. Seemed to happen less often depending on time of year. When I got a new set of tires I had tire place replace them and not had an issue over the past year. I still regret being cheap initially, just annoying. Get OEM or let tire spot put what they use in and call it good.

You’ll either need a TPMS programming tool to set it up, or just get a pre-programmed sensor that only needs the standard relearn.
