Hey guys, I’m needing some advice and tips. The other day maybe about 3 days ago I was driving and my transmission seemed to have slipped. I was at a stop sign. I went to give my car gas to go and my RPM shot up and it said I was going 51 in reality. I was really just going 10 to 15. My car is a 2017 V6 Camaro. I have about 73,000 miles on it. What are you guys think I should do it hasn’t done it again and I manually shifted it and it shifted just fine. I know I need to check my fluid, but I’m gonna go to the mechanic soon and get a diagnostic soon. Should I be worried or is this normal?

The speed sensor is at the transmission output shaft. So the speed reading of 51 means the transmission output was going that fast. Any problem would be behind that, like differential slip. Also, the car will likely compare the transmission output shaft speed to engine rpm for whatever gear you are in. If this doesn't match closely enough you will get a transmission code. |
