Car shipment recomendation

Anyone have any recommendations for shipping a car from Philadelphia, Pa to Boulder, Colorado?

It's a basic 1LT coupe so not looking for special enclosed trailers or anything like that... Just curious if anyone has personal experience before jumping on google.

I used Montway to ship from NH to NC, and I felt the price was reasonable, and while communication between the driver, the rep, and myself was a little sketchy once actually IN transit, the car actually arrived ahead of schedule, I received about 2 hours notice before arrival, and the car arrived with no issue. I'd use them again.

....as far as the type of trailer, I "think" if I remember correctly, the shipping company isn't responsible for damages incurred from rocks or road debris if on an open trailer. Closed trailer, every damage is covered. The cost was minimally different.

I tried Amerifreight first, based on a low qoute. By the time they found a driver, the actual cost had more than doubled from the initial amount.

Next, I tried Montway, and maybe they were that good, or just lucky, but they had a driver ready for pickup within 48 hours at a decent rate. Car was delivered on time, no issues.

I get the impression all these services are just brokers competing on the same message boards for the same independent drivers.

I have used Montway twice to transport camaros to Nevada. Once from Illinois and once from Nebraska. I have had nothing but good experiences with them. I chose open trailer and had absolutely no damage (just dirty cars).

My personal experience with Montway is similarly positive.

They transported my car from TN to CT (Ted Jannetty) and back, at a very reasonable price. Their website worked fine, reservations were available even within 1 day (this may not always be the case), the driver was a pro both ways, dates and times were honored (Ted has business hours and the car had to arrive on time), communication about vehicle location went just as expected.

They would be my first choice if I needed a transport tomorrow.

I used Plycon in 2022 to have my Camaro shipped from Michigan to Long Island, NY. Excellent service and car arrived without a scratch. Go for the covered transport.

How soon do you need it shipped? I bought a car about 3 months ago and checked on shipping. Montway had a good price and their reviews were good but they told me it could be two weeks before they could pick it up. I checked with a couple other companies and was told basically the same thing. I ended up flying up and driving the car 750 miles home.

Some years ago, I was at one of the Carlisle, Pa events and spoke with a major carrier. He told me that at such events, they have several carriers ready to haul purchases at reduced rates. Don't know if that holds true anymore but worth dropping a dime and asking Intercity or others about that. (Carlisle Productions may be a source for which carriers are parked and ready to load at their events).
The Carlisle Corvette Show is in a few weeks and that's roughly only an hour and a half drive from Philly.

That's a good idea - I was heading out there anyway... Its not a rush shipment - as long as it gets there sometime early Sept.

Some services are brokers, while others own their trucks.

Many services that offer only open trailers are brokers. The advantage is that they can often line you up with a route on short notice. The disadvantage: it's a jungle out there.

Premium lines like Intercity (I have used them) have their own enclosed trailers, but you will be subject to their schedules and might have to wait weeks. However your car will be safe with them.

Ouch - Intercity is definitely a premium service - they cost 2 times the quote I got from Montway (both enclosed). If my Camaro was a "specialty" car (i.e. ZL1 Convertible), I could justify the extra cost... Especially since it would be the #1 stolen vehicle

Can't justify the the extra cost on a plain jane 1LT V6 Coupe... Thanks for everyone's input!
