i see that code all the time on 4cyl and 6cyl gm engines. usually a result of the customers running out of oil, then realizing they have ran out of oil, go add oil and the light remains.
the cam phasers usually take a lot of damage from no oil to cushion the internal parts from each other. look at your camshaft commanded verses actual degrees. unless you dont have a scan tool. then just buy the chain, guides, phasers and replace them all. and keep track of your oil better. |

Mostly CTS people. For the 3.6, which is the 5th gen camaro engine but the 6th gen 3.6 really isn't much different. I do have hopes they aren't as problematic with oil consumption.
Regal and equinox people on the 4 cyl. Which isn't on the camaro platform. The gen 3 ecotec went to low tension rings and after that the engine struggled with oil consumption. They are durable as hell. Ive had too many to count drive in with engine clatter and cam codes. Add 4 quarts of oil and the clatter dies down some but the guides will be destroyed and the chain is streached. One of the most impressive ones I've seen was a traverse that DROVE in, it had high pressure fuel codes. Bank 2 chain was gone so the cams on bank 2 weren't turning and the high pressure fuel pump wasn't being driven. |
