Port out LT2 snout to 95mm?

hi guys,

I have FBO set up as showing in my signature. The IM runners were ported by GPI with slight cleaning on the snout. Looking to port out my LT2 snout to true 95mm to match LT5 TB opening just to play with it more. Maybe get bit more hp?

I heard it would not need to be retuned.
Can someone with experiences or tuning knowledge help me verify it?

I'm not a tuner, but I would say it depends on how effective the port job is. If you are removing enough material to move additional air at the throttle body, it could need tune tweaking. Being tuned for a 95mm will leave you pretty close, but increasing the cross sectional potential for air volume at various throttle positions might be just enough to either leave power/throttle response on the table or potentially cause drivability issues. Going from 87mm to a full 95mm port is a decent jump in volume potential. The tune for the throttle body accounts for most of it, but I think adjustment will be needed. Maybe the computer will see it and compensate, I'm not sure.

Thank you for ht input man, yeah, I was mainly tryna see if it is worth to port it out cuz I could potentially have a vacuum issue by eliminating the O-ring without getting any gains

my LT2, adaptor and LT5 tb are all port matched to 95mm. You do not have to port beyond the O-ring.

This is what it looks like on mine now. The snout is obviously smaller than the 95mm adapter

Here's how mine came out. The opening on my snout is actually 92, so everything matches. Once you open it to 95, I believe that's where you run into problems. Did you port the adaptor?

No, ICT has 2 styles of adapter, 95 to 95 and 95to 87. 95 to 95 is what I showed in the picture. I have heard people have to basically port out the whole o-ring groove and seal with RTV. I feel it makes sense to have a 95mm opening snout match 95mm TB. I just dont know if it is worth it or if I would have any drivability issue.

I bought the Katech 95 to 87. That's probably why he was able to better port match. That might be a better option for you.

I personally don't feel the juice is worth the squeeze. Standard porting and smoothing out the inlet port to the adapter is as far as I would take it. For a NA build, I wonder if it would even be worth a handful of ponies just in the inlet alone? I doubt it would be worth hogging it all the way out even for a FI build. Are there gains? Sure. Worth the trouble? For the most part, I doubt it.

On the 95 to 87 tb, the 95mm opening faces the tb. The 87mm opening faces the snout. That way you can port the 87mm side to match the 95mm snout. Everything matches nicely.

I bought the 95-87 adapter, however, I am curious if it worth to try to port the nwsout to 95mm for more gain?

According to the shop that did my porting and the tuner, it's worth it. We'll find out tomorrow. I drove it for a few minutes yesterday and the throttle response is already hair trigger .

did you do the comparison between 87/92 and 95?

No, I installed it yesterday and tuning tomorrow. The only comparison I'll have is between the 87mm LT1 intake and TB, and the 95mm LT2 intake and LT5 TB.
