GPS tracker anyone?

I know these vehicles come with a tracker that you can use the MyChevy app and track. If battery is disconnected then it isn't tracking.

Has anyone bought an aftermarket GPS tracker. Any recommendations?

If doing that then would recommend disconnecting the speaker. Google to do that.

Monimoto

I added this to mine. So far works great for a reasonable cost and fee.

Something like this yeah.

Mine's hidden in the car, and if accessory power is on, so is the unit. It's $9/mo if I want to turn it on, but I've let it lapse since I had IGLA installed. But it's still there and works. I'll enable it for a month every 6 months just to make sure it works.

I have been using Cloudhawk for at least 5 years. $100 per unit to buy, then $100 per unit per year to monitor (Canadian). It's a very small unit, similar in size to a cigarette pack with no external antenna. You hard wire it to power, but it also has an internal battery that is good for 2 weeks ~ a month depending on how often it is reporting. You can bury it in the dash, under any panel, in the trunk, etc. It doesn't constantly transmit, just every few minutes it sends an update to the server then goes silent. Any thief would take hours to find it depending on how good you hide it, and even if they found just the wire and cut it it would still update it's location for weeks. You can also go back to trip replay and see where the car has been for the last 5 years, how fast it was going, etc.

I have one that I will give you. It's an Ikon BV2-N1. You install it in the vehicle and track it via the Ikon app. ASFAIK the service is free and it works via cell service, but I have never used it. The dealer installed them in two of my vehicles and I removed them. You can find them on flea-bay for about $40-50. If you want it, email me at dfwcowboy at verizon dot net. I don't log in here all that often so PMs will get missed.

I don't think the AirTags are a good idea. Most up-to-date phones automatically detect those within so many feet and so thieves may use that to know if one exists in the car and then look for it.

The LandAirSea products looked good and so I went with their "54" product. $25/month subscription which allows for location updates every 60 seconds and the device itself was only $35. It will last months on one charge (unless you daily drive the car) and it is small with a powerful magnet. Mine is well hidden and I don't see how someone would ever find it. They also have a kit so it can be hardwired in for power.

My car came with SafePoint GPS. It was only 99 a year but went up to 199 a year due to some excuse about data plans. Not sure of the cost to be honest.

Provides tracking
Geo fencing
Speed monitoring
Low voltage alert.

It's a cool to have.

Wow, thank you all for all the choices that you all gave me. I apprecite it very much. When I had googled I did find quite a few options, some with bad reviews, some with good reviews. You just don't know sometimes until you ask someone that knows and been through the use of it. Looks like I got homework to do on the many possible choices here.

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!!

Compustar T13. I have been using Drone Mobile with the Compustar T13 highly recommended if you are getting the IGLA installed. It has an antenna extender that is stuck to the windshield which I believe is a deterrent and the signal has been great so far. It also allows you to monitor your cars battery power (As it does do a little bit of parasitic drain)(Also doesn't matter what kind of battery you have as I have been monitoring the stock lead battery and just dropped in an Anti-Gravity battery) and control the car functions. But for the past two days the app would not refresh the data which was weird but now it is working again so I am sure it was something on their end.

Just in case you are still looking!

Same setup in my z06; works well paired with IGLA, although I will say you should prioritize and IGLA as it's better they can't take it then you trying to find it after the fact. My only complaint with drone is under a large parking garage or building, it will not show correct location. When it cannot track the actual location, it by default shows your car in Washington where the compustar manufacturer is located. Freaked me the hell out the first time lol
