Question CSP headers with aftermarket catback

Through research it really seems CSP headers are the best fit and easiest header to install on our 6gens. Problem for me is they are designed to tie into the stock pipes after the cats and I don't want to keep the stock pipes.

If you have CSP headers, which aftermarket catback are you using?
How was the fit?
What modifications did you make for it to work?
Did you weld it?

CSP Headers

I have this exact set up and I was told the factory system is good for up to 800 hp. All you are really purchasing is noise. I love the sound of this combo. Screams when you are into it and still have a nice rumble when you just cruising with zero drone.

This was my initial thought, too, but then I found out about the warped flanges and how they didn't replace them. Then, after researching headers more, it seems to me that you would want the longest primaries also. The pipes might not be a big restriction, but the muffler can be if you are a real full bolt-on car (this is what Grok says) and might be 5-10 hp if not more. You can also see that some of the higher dyno cars have the full system, including axle back.

The Kooks headers use "Connection pipes". This is a piece of pipe that's designed to attach the headers to the OEM X-pipe(with the supplied clamps or welding). This will not effect the installation of any axle back mufflers.

We have made 1,000RWHP+ with the OEM X-pipe. There is no functional reason to change it for 99% of people.

If you wanted to use an aftermarket X-pipe I would buy it directly from Kooks. It may need modification for the CSP specific headers. I'm not sure as we have never tried that exact set up.

You just don’t see many cars hitting this kind of power and I would think the full ARH system is one of the reasons why. 495 rwhp bolt on, 600 rwhp with heads cam. The dyno is around 10:15.

If I'm doing headers on this car, the whole thing is getting done. I don't want the crush pipes, no stock suitcase (non npp car) and YES I know that the stock exhaust is good and there isn't much gain. I'm past those things.

I have a couple of ideas on how to do this, but I was curious how others with a setup like this have actually done it and which full catback they used.

I was thinking possibly weld either a 2.75" - 3" adapter off the CSP cats if going 3" catback or just a 2.75" coupling if going 2.75" catback.

Vince, yeah I really wanted the ARH full system but like I said in the other thread, they take forever and I can be impatient as hell

You can expand the csp cats back to 3” to mate up to whatever x pipe you use. There’s a bunch of different ways to do it, but I can tell you it is doable, since we did it on my buddy’s. I have csp headers/cats but mine are to the stock exhaust for now.

I recently went through this. CSP headers to a borla mid section didn’t fit, the bends of the borla mid section were slightly different than stock and caused the passenger side cat to hit the body. I cut up my stock exhaust and it fit fine with that. In the end I removed the cats because going to the stock center section and aftermarket cats really took some depth out of the exhaust note.

The rest of the install was super easy, I got them in without a lift, didn’t have to remove the starter or engine mounts. They also came with really nice hardware. I’d definitely recommend them.

If you list out all your bolt ons on Grok and ask it to find the restriction, it says the factory suitcase, even a NPP opened is a restriction. Once you get cold air, 95mm tb, intake manifold, E85 and headers, the restriction becomes the axle back. Grok says you can port the inlets to the axle back to help but it’s still a restriction. I have no idea, it’s just what the AI says.

I installed csp long tubes, kooks ultra cats. kooks 3 inch cat back to stock mufflers. Long tubes fit great still had to remove parts to get them in they don’t slide in like they say. the kooks ultra cats fit awful to the 3 inch cat back and the csp long tubes . Contacted kooks about the poor fitment the csp long tubes are made to csp specs NOT kooks specs reason nothing really fits well was told to cut and make it fit.
