New CAI from JLT

JLT just dropped their new CAI that comes with a 5" intake tube that needs a tune and a smaller tube that doesn't require a tune. https://sbfilters.com/products/jlt-c...camaro-ss-6-2l
Ive been keeping an eye on this one since they announced it and id for sure be getting it if i wasnt planning on going the procharger route. Im a much bigger fan of boxed systems as I usually end up with a bunch of gaps with the ones where you wrap it yourself. I see this as a great alternative to the Rotofab Big Gulp

LOL, nothing like waiting for a year after production ends to get into the aftermarket for a car! I guess they want to give everyone a chance to fully use their factory warranty first. They got the aftermarkets only ten year development cycle. Maybe they wanted to wait until the launch of GTA6 but even that took too long?

Sorry, I am sure it is a good piece, but damn.

They have another line but it’s the kind where you have to wrap the seals yourself that’s been out since 2016 I believe.

Spent some time looking at YouTube videos of this. Granted that since it's new and no one has one in the wild and the only available videos are manufactuerer marketing videos...this looks like a viable (better?) alternative to the Rotofab.

I'll probably go this direction when I upgrade to a 103mm TB.

I saw the no tune intake video on youtube. At the 7th run the car lost big power most likely due to heat soak. JLT didn’t even try to hide anything. One thing JLT did unlike others was the hood closed dyno. I would love to see Rotofab hood closed as a comparison.

There ya go. That's why I'm a fan of the stock box and have not went for a RF or any other. Lethal did a drop in k&n filter with the stock box and gained something like 4hp.

Yeah switched up to new JLT because I want to use the 5" tube when I put on ported msd/103 and then eventually cam. I think Rotofab quality is a still better than the JLT and that the Rotofab has dry filter option but overall don't think any benefits of JLT over roto besides the 5" option.

I just took delivery of the JLT system to replace my RotoFab intake. The RF consistently has higher air temps when the hood is closed and with the bottom open, massive amounts of road debris come up from the front tire and the JLT airbox is fully sealed with a ram-air inlet to the front grill. I will have a video soon on the install!

Stock box and drop in filter such as green or k&n seems the way to go. Maybe we will see more hood closed dynos for better comparisons.

I have been saying this for two years!! It's mind boggling to me that everyone just assumes the RF is the best route possible when the only metric I can find is the noise it makes that is better than the stock airbox. Our dyno results with Project Shocker made 697rwhp and 715lb/ft with the stock airbox and filter on an e30% blend.

Add road course track use to the mix and now I have 800-1000º+ brake temps plus tire and road heat going into the airbox from below with all the debris it can carry. At the last event, my tire threw a rock so hard it went through the fender liner and into the headlamp housing, now causing it to catch debris and water vapor.
