TR6060 Fluid Questions

Good evening,

I am driving myself up a wall going back and forth trying to figure out the ideal transmission fluid for these transmissions. I am sure I am overthinking it.

This will be the first transmission fluid swap on the car.

I purchased the Tremec HP-MTF oil because I figured they would know best for their transmissions.

However, upon further research, the high viscosity aspect has me a bit concerned. I live in Michigan which frequently has temperature fluctuations from 40° to 75°. I generally only drive the car from spring to fall, but it does experience lower temps every now and then.

With all this in mind, what fluid should I put in this car?

I simply don't want it to be WORSE than what it is, but have noticed a slight clunkiness with 2nd gear, as a lot of members have.

I know a consensus may be hard to reach, but I am kinda pulling my hair out about this.

I already have the 4qts of HP-MTF, however if that is deemed a poor choice for these conditions, I will likely use something else.

If anybody can give me some peace of mind, that would be great.

Thanks!

The Tremec fluid is absolutely the right choice if you track your car. For street driving in Michigan you'll be frustrated. It won't go into 2nd, etc until everything warms up. Also if not on the track frankly the manual trans fluid just doesn't get hot.

So I would go with the stock stuff or personally I would use Mobil 1 Delvac ATF https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-122...6&gclsrc=3p.ds. It seems to have the right balance between thick/thin with great additives for commercial duty. Use it in the boat and silenced bearing noise from the trans completely.

I run the tremec hp in my car, no problems at all, but I live in a warm climate, so I can’t help you with the winter temps.

I run tremec fluid and i routinely drive car in winter well below 40*F.

Appears to engage gears as well as OE fluid. Do you need more patience when its 1st 100 ft down street.. maybe, but additional protection on high end is worth it.
