SC3 vs SC3R for ZL1 1LE

My original SC3Rs are bald now so need replacing on 23ZLE, been very good on track but super sketchy on street.
I do 2 or 3 track days per year and the rest is car cruises and street driving.
Would the SC3 be good replacement for SC3Rs and give me better street traction but still do well on the track, wet or dry?

Yes, the Supercar 3's are an excellent street/track balance tire. You will be a few seconds slower on the 3's compared to the 3R's, but the 3's will have way better wet grip on both street and track. I have a set of Supercar 3's in ZL1 1LE sizing that I use for seat time tires, then throw the 3R's on for PB's.

Supercar 3R's = 90% Track tire
Supercar 3's = 50% Track 50% street
Michelin PS4S = 90% street 10% track

I don't think anyone will argue that the 3Rs are a better track tire than the 3s. that being said, the 3s are a GREAT tire and will last longer the on the track..... but they are a "slower" tire. **i love them on the track personally*

the 3s are an ok street tire but it will suck in the rain/snow/cold weather. they also ain't a great "roll racing" tire. they need heat in them to work well and just driving on the freeway isn't enough to heat them up. also using 3s as a DD will also suck as tire life will easily be below 10k. thats where the PS4s some in.

Totally agree. I have a set of 3s for the track and PS4s for DD. Using the ZL1 1LE GM track alignment specs with both sets. Hoping PS4s will wear even?

If the ps4s aren't directional then id say just rotate them and should get some extra time from them

They aren't, but one can only switch side to side and not truly rotate, since fronts and rears are different size.

I agree with this. If the car is not a daily driver, but a fun car that comes out on nice days and only 2-3 track days per year, Supercar 3's are a good choice.

If it's a DD, I would put PS4S's on the stock wheels and get a 2nd set of wheels and run a track focused tire.

The GM spec track alignment is fine for street driving, except I would change the front toe spec to zero and slight toe in for the rear.

The Supercar 3 tires in ZL1 1LE sizes are stupid expensive now. I'll likely change to something else due to the price increase the next time I buy street tires. $528 for the front tires!

Yes, they were stupid expensive but even though I loved the SC3R on track, I didn't on on most street situations.
Anyway, I got 4 new SC3, 15-W50, and DOT 4 fluid. Crazy bill but ready for this season.
