Arrow BACK UP CAMERA HACKING ???

Hey guys, asking for an illiterate friend.
Any know if it is possible to convert the "back up camera" to a constant "rear view" camera when racing?

LOL. Install a non-resistor rear back-up light bulb.

**edit** - must install LED backup light bulbs to do this

I’d check with Gen5DIY. I thought they were able to unlock use of the rear camera at any time you want to use it.

Actually, this would work. Just put a SPST switch in the cockpit with a 200ohm resistor inline. Bypass resistor and rear camera comes on. Flick the switch to put the resistor inline and the camera goes off. Would most like just have to do this with one bulb and resistor (not have to do it with both rear lights). Forgot to mention a very important part and that's having to install LED backup light bulbs, like the LASFIT L2 7440 LED bulbs.

I know this because I had to install a resistor to keep the camera off on my 2021 after installing LEDs.

This is not a solution. The car will think the driver is backing up, causing who knows what random side effects.

An actual proper way is what Josh mentioned briefly: Gen5DIY can reprogram the HMI and allow any cameras to be turned on manually at any time. Link: https://www.gen5diy.com/collections/...ckage-8-screen (this is for the 2018, one would call them to inquire about availability for 2019+ cars).

I heard that if you simply unplug the reverse lights the camera will stay on(only downside is that you lose use of PDR). I never tried it myself.
