Well since there was no decent tow-hook setup for the 6th Gen Camaro ZLE... I decided to make my own. I am racing in this week's GridLife Track Battle and one of the rules mandates the car must have a rear tow hook. I figured that I would build one that not only would exceed the 7K requirement, but also will carry a 400# tongue load. LMK what you think!

I have the OEM one and use it to transport tires to events.

That looks great! How is it mounted? I assume using the same bolts as the bumper?
I have the Curtis one and although it is functional, it's much lower and occasionally scrapes. This would be a better solution. You might have to fabricate and sell to me! lol |

looks good! i have a Curt class 1 and use it to jam over to the local mtb trails pretty often. hardest part of the install was just getting the bumper cover on and off.

This past week was a wild one with Gridlife Track battle and two days testing on track for the class I was competing in. As part of the requirements for racing, a tow hook needed to be on the ZLE to pass the Tech Inspection and I am happy to report my hitch does with flying colors!!
If anyone wants to order one, I am having new mounting plates stamped out this week to build five more. Yes, this does require a small 1.25" square hole be made into the bumper but it has to be so the rated pull of the car is in line with the attachment points for the highest recovery strength possible. Once installed, you can use any hitch you like in the receiver, but the billet Mooseknuckle one we used passed tech scrutineers without issue and it looks killer! Send me an email if you wish to place an order. |
