Access to trunk,when battery fails

I noticed a cable from the trunk lid to the upper rear seat
That has a “keyed lock” (it’s on the upper part of seat, u have to slightly
Fold down the leather material to access this keyed lock) has anyone
Actually tried to use this??? , because when I tried, and inserted key
It only rotated 90 degrees, and didn’t release the damn trunk!!

I've only used the emergency handle on the trunk to open it in the event of power loss. I hadn't noticed what you mentioned. I'll have to check that out.

Is this a vert? The 5th gens were made this way because you couldn't access the trunk from the seat back, so there was a key lock at top corner on the driver side to operate the trunk. coupes you could lower the set back to gain access to the pull. Guessing 6th gens are the same. should have info in manual, you know, as a last resort

DUH... The Owner's Manual... Good call. I didn't even think of that (and I SHOULD have...).

I successfully attempted and popped the trunk with the trunk release lock cylinder once and only once. Because, like I mentioned in the other thread, even with the plastic key extender I had to exert so much torque it felt like I was going to break the key off.

For those without a vert, functionally we're using the hand torque from a key to pull the cable release. Imaging doing the same with the hood release ... and then you get the idea on how hard it is to turn.

Drnick if you're is not functioning then have a look in the trunk to see if the cable has been detached from the back side of the lock cylinder. From my cheapo service manual:

And yes I should have read the manual, but then

Flatbedded, but a simple jump by the tow
