Basic mod suggestions/opinion

Thanks in advance guys. I'm not looking to do anything crazy. Car does plenty for me stock. After 7 years of ownership I'm getting "used" to that power/handling since I don't use it that much.

I'm taking the car in to replace some sensors and while there I was considering perhaps a lower pulley mod and a tune along with fresh plugs, then I started reading up on pulleys and see there are "percentages" to these pulleys so I thought I'd better get some suggestions before discussions with the shop. Kinda want to have an idea of what I'm talking about so i'm not sold on something I don't want/need.

Thanks again.

That'll be more confusing than asking people which oil they recommend!!

I would begin by asking you about your intended usage of the car since it has been this long and you are going in for some maintenance, I can offer suggestions that have proved to make exceptional power. Our "Project Shocker" just laid down 697rwhp & 715tq on an E30 blend with some basic bolt-ons, full OEM exhaust and retained 100% streetability while proving it is very reliable on the road course.

You can go this route with a cam and magnuson install as well, while still having 100% streetability and road course reliability

he did say he doesn't use it much and just wants some basic mods.

phase 1 is what he needs - headers and and intake is enough with a tune should make 605ish depending on manual vs auto.

if he wants to spin the blower a bit more an upper pulley will suffice.

no need to complicate it - zl1 phase 1 mod build on youtube or the forum and you'll see the parts, sounds, etc.

To clarify, I typically do my own basic maintenance, have taking it to the dealer a few times, all basic maintenance. Just never did any mods cos I felt it had enough to get out of its own way & just enjoying it "stock" I appreciate you reaching out and will definite watch your yt video. forgot to add....I don't plan on tracking it just street driving.

For a first mod, I’d recommend going with flex fuel and a tune if E85 is available in your area. It’s one of the best bang-for-your-buck upgrades in my opinion. You’ll get more power without having to mess with pulleys.

Also, check out Ryan Cunningham’s video on YouTube about why you shouldn’t pulley your stock LT4. He breaks it down really well. Here’s the link:

If you have e85 access and want to keep it really cheap and simple, I'd say:
Drop-in green filter
Soler TB
Flex sensor
JMS booster

If you are sticking with 93 pump gas, I'd suggest:
Rotofab Big-Gulp Intake
103mm throttle body
Kong X-port with stock pulley size
Headers

From my knowledge of good/reliable fuel grades in my area, 93 is about as good as it gets. so, I don't think going e85 would work for me. but I'll look into your other suggestions. Thanks

I have a 100mm Solar up for grabs, if you PM me, and make an other! It worked great with my first round of mods!!! You probably want to consider a Roto Fab, or a Roto Fab Big Gulp (I have a big gulp up for grabs as well, the only thing wring with it is the logo got a bit of black paint on it so it doesn't "look" perfect. My build thread is here, I went from 100% stock to 800+ rwhp, with out opening the engine !

Good luck on your journey, many users here really helped me get to where I'm at today !

Farrk, I would start with a RotoFab intake and then decide on other mods. The only mod I have done is the RF Intake and that’s enough for me but it’s your car so do what makes you feel good. Good luck.
