Does this sound like lifter tick?
Hi all,
Can’t tell if this is lifter tick or if I am being paranoid because this is the first oil change where I had to use 5w-30 instead of 0w-40 (Amazon sent me 0w-50 by mistake, but I didn’t find out until I drained the oil & then had to run to the store and buy some 5w-30 in the interim)the sound seems to be coming from passenger side, and is intermittent. Seems like it skips sometimes. Had the car since new and never put anything other than 0w-40 and did changes religiously at 5k miles. Car is a 2022 2SS Manual with 36k miles. Yeah, I'm going with normal, my 2020 SS does the same thing, always from the passenger side, comes and goes some times... Always has me paranoid as well but it's been doing it the whole time I've owned it (5 years since new) with no issues and no codes... Always religiously changed the oil (never has had more than 2,500 miles on the oil (most changes were at far less)) and always used Mobil 1 0W-40 ESP Formula and a PF64 filter...
I think you're fine...

Internet audio is never conclusive, but this sounds like high pressure fuel pump tick to me, not out of the ordinary. Mine ticks even louder because I have aftermarket long tube headers, and this is with non-AFM lifters, so they physically can't collapse.

Sounds normal-ish but questionable. To me it could resemble what is going on in Service bulletin 23-NA-207 but the bulletin says only for the fuel feed pipe in ZL1s.
I have to ask, has anyone with a SS/LT1 ever had this fuel feed pipe issue? https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...50256-0001.pdf

Why not just use the -50 oil?
