Ceramic Coating Inside Headers?

I am planning to buy TSP 1 7/8th headers in the next couple months and am likely going with cerakote 1800°F ceramic coating. Is it necessary to coat the inside as well for the longevity of the headers or any other reason? Or would just the outside be fine?

Negative. Outside only.

not necessary but you can coat the inside, Eastwoods sells a spray nozzle to do it.

Is there any risk of this flaking off and clogging the high flow cats?

Might want to contact coating supplier , I don't have cats. I believe it will just burn and turn into dust and out the exhaust pipe

So here's my experience. Jet Hot is down the street from me, and I've used them every time I've needed to have headers coated. They happen to have my Red Iroc with ducati bronze headers in their gallery btw, ahem (shameless plug). ...but seriously, they coat the inside, and I've never had problems with coating or headers deteriorating. I've had others that came coated, and can't think of an instance when I have NOT had problems. Some worse than others. Now, do I think Jet Hot is the only game in town? Of course not. Are they arguably pricier based on their name? Haven't shopped, but I wouldn't be surprised. All I know is that in my experience, a reputable coating, inside and out, seems to be not a bad way to go. Not expecting everyone to run out the Jet Hot, but I'm building a new mill for my 86 Z, and the headers are coming coated. I'll actually pay Jet Hot to strip and recoat. Just not worth the hassle down the road. jm2c.

Man I wish I had a Jet Hot local to me... I found it on their website and that car and engine are beautiful! It does seem like Jet Hot has somewhat of a name tax but I'm sure the quality is worth it. I wasn't sure if the local Cerakote shop I found did the inside but the inside and outside coating are included in the quote they gave me for a decent price. As soon as I pull the trigger on headers and a flex fuel kit im going to take them over there to be coated in Cerakote glacier steel. Thanks for all your help and best of luck on your build!

My kooks headers are coated by Jet Hot. They stay unbelievably cool, even after a half hour commute in stop and go traffic Worth every penny.
