WTF is happening with AC Delco fluid prices??
Doing some fluid changes and I'm blown away by the change in prices. WTH. I get fluids are relatively cheap but this is nutty.
10-4034 LSD fluid purchased from Amazon: NOW: $31.89 Need 2 bottles @ $63.78 (154% increase) 8/2022 purchase: $20.60. 2 bottles = $41.20 10-4033 Manual Transmission fluid from Amazon NOW: $20.25 Need 4 bottles @ $81.00 (334% increase) 5/2022 purchase: $6.06. 4 bottles = $24.24 Am I buying from the wrong place? You all seeing this shit?! |

Amazon has traditionally been playing these pricing games for a long time. They're showing me $16.50 vs your $20.25 for 10-4033 right now, which is "only" 22% higher than MSRP, plus they algorithmically jack up certain product prices, depending on your purchasing habits, in an attempt to slip them through your radar.
The diff fluid (10-4034) has an MSRP of $40.48 (!!), so their price isn't even that bad there. Wow.

I cannot confirm Arpad's statement but it seems reasonable. My biggest gripe with Amazon is how long it's been taking to receive the fluids I order. It took nearly two weeks to get 2 cases of oil. I'm now 15 days waiting to get 10-4034 Gear Oil. Placed the order on Jan 15th and paid $23.00 per bottle. Maybe that's the reason I'm still waiting on it.

I changed my rear diff fluid about a month ago. Went to closest Chevy dealer for 2 quarts and they were going to charge me $80 some dollars. I showed them online where next closest Chevy dealer had it advertised online for $24 a quart so they knocked the price down to $27/quart, still robbery!

Most of the auto parts on amazon are listed by resellers, who just move product through amazon. It pays to search a couple different ways, even using google to get you into amazon.
Just did another oil change and first used "order this again" to get my PF64 filter. Cost was $12. Shipped but never arrived, and amazon issued the refund. When I reordered, I just did amazon search for "PF64" and one came up for $6! |

And sourcing from a dealer is usually a bad deal.

I can't directly confirm Arpad's explanation of what Amazon does, but several of my friends and I have all noticed "strange" pricing behavior on Amazon. Hard to pin down exactly what is happening, but Arpad's example makes sense. I buy short sleeve Dickies work shirts, and TWICE, I've found prices higher than last time from the SAME Amazon/retailer store. But then I go through my history, find the OLD order, follow the link and then repurchase for the OLD price. I dunno.
Amazon is a tool like everything else, and it can be an asset, but same as always, caveat emptor. Buyer beware. Use the tool, but rest assured, it'll use YOU if it can. Gotta price shop. |

Now it could be a different seller, OP never gave us a link, but I witnessed different prices for the exact same product/seller combo between my wife's account and mine several times.

Prices were from Amazon AC Delco store. Current prices (for me) below.
That said, I did run into another “issue” that y’all should know. It seems the 10-4033 (88861800) MTF has been replaced by 19540137. After seeing the price gouging by Amazon, I was able to find the 88861800 MTF from Jegs for only $6.79. So, I bought 8 quarts. A few days later, I found my purchased hadn’t shipped and is now listed as back ordered. So I visited the dealership yesterday. Apparently 88861800 is discontinued. The parts rep provided this 19540137 bottle instead confirming it’s the manufacturer replacement. Bought 4 bottles from the dealership at $13.50 each. |
