Any shift knob extenders out there? (Hurst upgrade imminent)

Hi all,

I finally decided to purchase and install the Hurst short shifter. I got it from CSPRacing for only $400 shipped. Just too reasonable of a price and yeah, I know its a PITA to install. That said, I just replaced my alternator and that too was way more work than initially expected. So, I'm accustom to being frustrated.

Anyway, I'm buying the Hurst mainly because of the precision. When driving my friends SS w/Hurst shifter, I was shocked how sloppy my 1LE felt in comparison. The Hurst had zero left/right slop; just rifle bolt action!

That said, I don't know if I really need that 40% shorter throw. I started thinking... maybe I combine the Hurst shifter with an extender?! That would make the throws feel a little longer (still shorter than OE 1LE), plus it would place the shifter a little closer to the wheel - yay race car!

So that leads to my question... anyone out there know where to buy a shifter extender that works with the stock shift knob? I already purchased a RacesEng extender but it seems to only work with their larger diameter shift knobs. Instead, I'm looking for an extender that would work with the stock knob.

Anyone have one out there? Know where to get one? Google and Amazon came up with zero hits.

Thanks in advance!

Hurst made two versions of the shifter, one for the stock knob and the other for the ball. I would call them. If you can get both parts you can easily swap from the top

Not a bad idea. I did finish the Hurst install a couple weeks ago. Unsure if it would've needed a different shaft from the get go.

That said, the PITA install was well worth it! Feels so good!

I have had the hurst shifter with pistol grip for 7 years now. It's best shifter I've ever had.
Love the precision of the 2 - 3 shift
