I just found out about The Circuit. Too late to sign up, but I got on the wait list.
Rocky Mountain Race Week is coming through this area so I'll be signing up for that. Need to get to a TnT. Would not prefer Yello Belly but maybe.

Welp the first race of the TMCCC has been canceled apparently due to concerns around the track being open.
So first race in this series is at Xtreme Raceway Park on 3/23/2025. |

First race of the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge is in the books (for me).
Easily the most not fun time I've had at a drag race. A lot of it is on me. New track, new car, been a few years since I raced. A bit frustrating working through quite a bit of confusion on my part. Biggest issue for me, was getting red lights trying to stage. I mean, it's not my first rodeo and I have a few trophies that kinda, sorta suggest I might have a clue. So even with not considering the competition aspect, I wasn't able to get any useful information on my maiden run(s) with this car. I'll add the deets from my one timed run once I sort out a few things.

One timed run during TT: 8.189 @ 90.31mph (1/8 mile)
60': 2.053 Completely stock car down to the factory air filter. All Season tires. 3,980 lbs* with driver & 3/4 tank gas. Tire pressure 25lbs rear, 50lbs front. Temp - 76*; DA - 3,376'; Wind - cross @ 20mph, cloudy * as best I could seethe scale with the sun hitting the readout. ------------------------ Not sure if there was a problem with the staging beams in the right lane or possibly not compatible with 20" wheels? My first TT & 1st round elimination I tripped the red light while staging (right lane). Both times it happened exactly the same. Pre-Stage Bump once, no staging light. Bump twice, no staging light. Bump third time; The pre-stage bulb goes out, the staging bulb comes on, then the red light comes on. That happened in obvious sequence, one after the other and not all at once. My car was still after the third bump. It seems to me that there is a problem with the staging beams. But thinking more about it, I'm wondering if maybe the 20" wheels I'm running were somehow not triggering the beams properly due to such a short sidewall. I've never tried to run a car with this big of wheel. Oh, and the one run I did in the left lane (noted above), the driver in the right lane redlit. Hmmm. |

how long did it take you to stage vs how long did you have? almost sounds like you timed out.

Pretty sure it wasn't a time out. At least one other person reported similar behavior from the same lane and several spectators remarked on the amount of red lights happening from that lane.
It was acting like the staging bulb were delayed in lighting, so that by the time the staging bulb finally came on, I had rolled to the start beam. IDK. I have footage I'll review for a timeout, but if that is what was happening, then I was only getting a literal few seconds (2-3) to get staged once the other car staged. ETA: Watching video, it's like 1-1.5 seconds from when the left lane fully stage to when I full staged. My car is perfectly still and a full second later the red light comes on in my lane. Race this weekend was canceled due to weather/flood conditions. Next race is 1/4-mile at Texas Motorplex on 4/13.
There's a TnT at Texas Motorplex this Sunday, that I plan on attending. Work on that staging stuff some more. Also, have a drag pack on order, but the front wheels are on backorder. |

Running 7.77 - 7.81 @ 92.50 with 3,300 DA.
71% E 3,920 lbs w/driver and 1/4 tank. Launch control is pushing me thru the beams, so nothing but redlights. I'll be foot braking tomorrow.

3 straight days of racing, Whew!
I shifted to foot braking because the launch control on this car is out to lunch. Looks like I'll have to settle for reaction times in the 0.0x range. Not ideal for bracket racing. ![]() Set PBs across the board in the 1/8th mile for this car. 60': 1.748 ET: 7.641 MPH: 93.79 Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge next weekend.
