2nd gear burnouts ???

Can you guys do second gear burnouts in your 2ss w/ stock clutch?? The car has more than enough power to do 2nd and probably do a 3rd gear burnout, but the clutch just slips if I try to start it in second. It slips bad. So I'm wondering if any of you guys are able to do this on your stock clutch or if it's time to upgrade mine.

There's a difference lighting up your tires on dry pavement vs drag track with a burnout box. Dropping the clutch on dry pavement in 2nd if you have a setup that promotes any traction at all is brutal on the driveline. If your clutch is glazed, it takes a bit to "walk it off" and if the clutch material is damaged it's grip is going to be permanently degraded.

Try starting in 1st and then click 2nd. Use a little water to help get started.

How is dropping the clutch on dry pavement in 2nd any harsher than doing it in 1st, and any worse than dropping the clutch and launching the car on a prepped surface at the drag strip?

Anyway I tried a quick hazing of the stock tires in 2nd at the drag strip after driving around the water box and it wasn't too hard. Just had to feather the clutch a little and roll on the gas. Seemed to be smoother and more controlled than doing it in 1st. Took me a couple tries though to get it down.

Because you have less gear advantage in 2nd than 1st. Dead hooking on a prepped drag strip is probably as harsh as it gets. Never said it was bad or good.

I don't mean a rolling burnout, I mean starting in second from a stop.
