Need differential help!!!

The diff on my 2017 2LT (V6/manual - LSD) is shredding itself due to abuse from the former owner. My shop said there are absolutely NO AFTERMARKET OPTIONS, and all they could find as a stock GM LSD unit.

The total bill will be $3,000 + change (out the door price). Is this reasonable, or does ANYONE have an idea for another option??

TIA

To be honest, I would just buy a new from GM and have it installed at the dealership. My rear diff destroyed itself and there is an aftermarket option but it is over 6k. I was going to do the used rear diff route by my luck would be 1k for a used one and it would go bad shortly after. I paid $2900 for a new rear diff, and drivers side axel but I also had a friend that worked at the dealership and I got a discount on the price of the differential. And I had a 1 year GM warranty on the rear diff and axel. These have a welded carrier unit that can not be serviced, is why there are no aftermarket options. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply. I try not to do dealerships, unless I absolutely have to. The shop says it takes about 8 days to get the diff in, but I also want to make sure I'm able to get my sons new computers this Christmas (they are both Autistic and heavy gamers), plus their computers are about 5 years old and no longer upgradeable. I wanted to do it for them last year, but being newly retired and on an unfamiliar fixed income, I wasn't able to make it happen - still feel like shit about that. So I'm gping to try and wait as long as possible before committing to the new diff.

Is the diff the same as the ones in RWD Cadillac ATS & CTS? If so, there are Chinese diffs available in Ebay for less than $1k. There are few people in cadillacforums who used those with great success
