Dual exhaust crackling

What causes the occasional crackling to sound like it's coming from one side? Is it normal for the dual exhausts to crackle more from one side rather than both? Recently had my exhausts inspected so I doubt anything is wrong.

I'll add that if it's being forced by downshifting (which I rarely ever do), it seems more short bursted and one sided, versus if it's happening more naturally, for a longer duration, I hear it more evenly across both exhausts.

Snap crackles and pops are in the tune from the factory, I doubt it is anything to worry about. Those can be tuned out if you really wanted to. Can just take it to the Chevy Dealer and tell them to tune out the snap, crackles and pops.

if you're talking about hearing it while driving, your just hearing the closer side more than the other, they are equal if you're behind the car.

Dual exhaust crackling

The more pressure you build up in the exhaust during acceleration and the more you decelerate due to environmental forces immediately thereafter (while in the same gear), the more intense the popping you’ll get. Downshifting before the popping ends keeps it going longer too. Woooohoooo!

Dual Mode exhaust is a gearheads dream come true. I've bought new muscle cars and Corvettes since the early 70s and they've all sounded meek compared to my 2SS Vert. The crackles, pops, and back-fires put a smile on my face- especially when the top is down ! AWESOME.

For those that live in Cali be warned, I just seen a video posted the snap, crackle, pop is illegal and people are being forced to tune it out. Maybe someone can verify cause you never know fact from reality on social media.

I agree. I just wish my 23 ZL1 made as many crackles and pops as my 22 1LE did. The ZL1 does make them, but not like my 1LE did. Perhaps my 1LE was sort of a unicorn at the top of the crackle and pop spectrum.

Or perhaps the ZL1 having forced induction mutes some of the crackles and pops.

After I got my headers and e85 tune, the cracks and pops are much more frequent. If I time my upshifts correctly, I can get a loud pop which brings a smile to my face. I get that the pops and cracks aren't for everyone and I make sure I'm not being obnoxious in residential areas or late at night.

As for the OP and them hearing the pops out of one side or not, if you have the NPP exhaust, maybe a valve is stuck closed. Could just be you hearing it more from one side more than the other being on the driver side.
