Which titanium lug nuts do you use?

What titanium lugs do you use?

I think i unseated one of my wheel studs trying to fight the impact off the lug nut, the lugs have just been deformed due to heat. So i think it’s time to get titanium ones as i heard they don’t deform

I have removed and replaced my wheels at least 30 times per year since new (over four years now) and tracked it to the point of recurring brake fade, all while using steel lug nuts. I have done the same with many previous cars going back almost 40 years. I have never, ever seen a steel lug nut deform due to heat. Your aluminum wheels would melt long before a steel lug did.

The impact is doing the damage, not the heat. The shock that impact guns impart to fasteners will stress them. I never break my lugnuts with an impact.

This. You’ll mess the titanium ones as well if you continue using an impact to take them off

This x2. I use a breaker bar and a non-marring socket, willing to spend the extra minute to protect the lugnuts. (I do have a 1200 lb-ft ugga-dugga, but never use it on the Camaro.)

Yeah I mispoke, definitely the impact doing the damage, I figured the titanium ones would hold up better. Since not maybe ill reluctantly put the impact down lol.

I remove the wheels so much changing between my autox set and track set that the impact saves so much time

I think the key is: what impact gun? I use a little Milwaukee M12 impact when swapping between street and Drag racing wheels and it’s been totally fine for the past several years. I run the Harding Performance titanium lug nuts which I believe are the same as the Katech ones.

Now that makes more sense! And I'm with you: there's no way in hell I'm doing all this manually for every autocross and track day I do! I would suggest simply replacing your lug nuts every couple of seasons with good-but-reasonably-priced steel ones. Come to think of it, I need to replace mine soon...
