Head and neck restraint (HANS device)
Posted this on the 5th Gen side and I figured that safety is not limited to model year so I'd ask for opinions here also. I'm shopping for a "Hans device". I've narrowed it down to a NecksGen REV2 Lite or a Simpson Hybrid S. Looking for safety with good visibility. C5 Z06 HPDE track car. I have a 6 point harness, full containment seat and airbags are deleted. What are you folks running?

I've been using the NecksGen REV2 Lite for a couple of years and really like it. Love the quick release.

I have both a HANS Sport and a Simpson Hybrid S. I haven't used the HANS since I bought the Hybrid since I can use it in almost any car, with or without harnesses.

just sold a hybrid sport for a necks gen rev 2. hybrid works great but its heavy and cumbersome comparatively. if you dont have harnesses thats the way to go though.

I used both when I was still racing (cage, suit, belts, etc.)
I liked the Simpson for cost, although it looked and felt cheap at the time. The NecksGen I had was x-large size and was just slightly too big to fit in my seat's halo (Kirkey, but beefy version), but otherwise a good product. NecksGen felt and looked better since it did not have all that webbing on it. If you know you'll only be in your fully caged car, I'd go with NecksGen. 1/2 cost of Simpson and just as safe. Pretty comfortable and easy on/off. |

I've just been using the HANS III with their quick release. I don't ever release it though, it just stays attached to the helmet.

Purchased the NecksGen REV2 Lite yesterday from We Dont Lift racing in Tempe Az. Great small shop with excellent customer service. Ryan took about 45 min or so helping me get the correct size etc. Donning it is pretty straightforward, hopefully it never gets "tested". Thanks to all who contributed.

Yes, Ravi is a real good guy. When I first met him at his shop he talked me out of spending a bunch of money on stuff I didn't need. I try to send as much biz as I can his way.
