Cool Old School Flowmaster Sound...

Okay... let me start that I will grab some popcorn for this thread!!

As someone who remembers the great rumble from #BackInTheDay from a set of 2-chamber Flows on a 5.Oh, coupled with the distinct squeal of a S-Trim Vortech and an E303 Cam... I just saw that Flowmaster has a kit for the 2016+ 6.2L Camaro. Seems to be a nice setup for sound, where I will admit there are others with nicer welds, smoother this & that but in all honesty I hate that raspy gutted tin-can X-pipe sound.

I need the NPP valves as I do occasionally drive this on the street but as some know who follow my YouTube Channel, I am building this ZLE for GridLife/Global Time Attack next season.

Does anyone have this setup?

Known to drone like a SOB. That system really get's no traction on the forum for that reason.

Yes, I have it! (have had it for almost 2 years)
Yes, I love it!
Yes. It works with the NPP valves
No, I have not had ANY issues with it...no drone, no rattle etc
I personally like the sound of Flowmaster vs all others and wanted to be "different" than the usual Borla/Corsa/AWE crowd. Those that have heard mine in person were suprised at just how good it sounded at idle and on throttle.
I did take mine to have the tips powder coated gloss black because I don't like chrome tips. .
SORRY FOR THE SIDEWAYS PICS!!

Mine doesn't drone and I've had about 10 people ride in my car that can verify no drone from the exhaust. . I also only did axle-back with everything else stock, so I don't know if those that do this system with X-pipe and/or headers if THEY have drone? I just know mine doesn't.

I always find it funny when people respond with the "drone" comments when the Flowmaster setup is specifically designed not to drone like they used to back in the day. This is why some would opt for the 3-chamber mufflers instead of the 2-chamber ones.

Your Black tips look Sick AF!!

I also plan to install the Magnaflow mid-pipe resonated X-over muffler to deepen the tone a bit more as a lot of the tracks I run on have sound limits.

I don't buy Flowmaster because its a cheap Chinese made product. Quality rarely ever improves when moving from America to China. The other issue I have with this system is look very heavy and overly complicated.

I had it, and it was ok. It had some serious drone with valves open. Not bad closed. I currently have the Corsa NPP(bought before price went through the roof) and it's much better but the price difference is massive. Don't think I would buy the Corsa at current pricing either. I would do catted headers or catless with a resonated X section into the stock muffler. You won't get old school 5.0 sound out of these cars period.

It is amazing how good those 5.0’s sounded with such a simple mod. The stock Ford heads were like pea shooters they ere so restrictive. I’m not certain what created that magic, restrictive heads, firing order, combination, but yea pretty amazing.

Drone would be mitigated by the midpipe resonated Xover. I am searching for a deeper tone, not a raspy crackle sound so many of these systems have today. Not sure I will be able to achieve such with 2" primary American Racing headers.

AZIROC, you mentioned the Flowmaster on your car... #BackInTheDay we ran the single 3", non crossflow Flowmaster and it made more power than a straightpipe exhaust on the SSGT 1LE 305 m5 cars.

It wasn't that Flowmaster created the sound so much as the stock engine firing order and exhaust design. Have you ever heard a Shelby GT350 with stock exhaust vs one with headers? It changes the sound 100% and not in a good way. The stock exhaust manifolds on those cars were specifically tuned for that engine firing order. Many people have ruined the sound of their GT350s adding headers and regretted it.

Based on the sound I think you're trying to get, I think you'll be very disappointed in the Flowmaster setup.

I agree! That was one of the first things I listened for when I got it installed. If it droned I was going to put the factory suitcase back on it because I HATE droning exhaust. I'd actually be willing to give ANYONE on here that says they drone a ride to prove they don't. They are also a lot lighter than the factory suitcase muffler. They are not any more complicated than the inside of the factory suitcase muffler either(if you google, you can see a pic of one cut open) I guess I'm going to have to be the de-bunker for this system. Everyone likes what they like so that's great...but I think there is alot of false narratives on this Flowmaster exhaust just based on "prior" systems or "back in the day" systems..I like it and to me that's all that matters! Thanks for the comment about the black tips. I wished they came that way, but hey, no big deal to get them powder coated. Oh man, that Magnaflow will definitely help out and make the sound really awesome!
