Hennessey 850hp for road course

I am looking at used 1le for road course track days. Currently have a zl1. I have seen some reasonably priced hennessey 850 hp 1le but can not find anything on whether the hold up on the track days. I know somebody that has a 1200 hp hennessey that has had to rebuild twice but he does not even track his. I would like to hear from anyone who has tracked their Hennessey 850 hp as to its peformance and its relability.

I don't think a Hennessey will even hold up to street use let alone track use.

I would stay clear of anything Hennessey.

It's very reliable. I owned one.

If you know someone who has had to rebuild their 1200 HP Hennessey and he doesn't even track his. Then I would take that as a clue to stay away from Hennessy.

I am one of those that says to stay away from Hennessey since they are overpriced and have had a very long (since the 90s) history of screwing over their customers.

Go find a stock 1LE and modify it yourself if you want to from a place that'll do it better and at a much more reasonable price.

But to answer the OPs question, did you do track days? I know you drag race your 1LE, but never heard you talk about any road course action which is totally different in regards to reliability.

I spent a couple days at the road course and had no issues at all in terms of any parts that Hennessy touched. And by the way, back to the ops post, Hennessy doesn't build a 1200 horsepower Camaro so we have some garbled info here

THE RESURRECTION Camaro ZL1 1LE: The 1200 HP ...

Hennessey Performance

I realize 1200 and 850 hp are going to be totally different animals. How often did you drag race race yours?

I stand corrected and should have said they didn't make a 1200 horsepower when I bought mine.

I owned my 850 for 2 years and took it to the drag strip four or five times, and the road course several times. I had no issues with any work that Hennessy did on the car which I have said here numerous times.

Then I put a 2650, low side fuel pump and larger throttle body on and it made 1150 bhp. That version of the engine spent a lot of time at 7000 RPMs and when I sold it the harmonic balancer was busted, a lifter had seized and the thrust bearing was going out. So I proved you can tear one up if you try hard enough

I encourage you to look at the Ted Janettey 125 package. Safe, reliable improvement with plenty of power for road course work.

A Member was making around that power and had trouble with factory cooling. Once he added an oil cooler (separate from the OEM one), temps' dropped into control. The OEM cooling module was not designed for more power than stock, so I'd keep money to upgrade and address that, too.

Cooling module? Why are you saying it like it is a computer controlled thing? Are you referring to the same oil cooler you referenced above or something else?

On a side note. Hennessey. Lol.

The OP opens a thread expressing an interest in Hennessey and you, never having done business with them, insult them, which you've done before.

Hennessey is a Top 10 Custom Car Builder. I have done business with them and their service and work are excellent.
