boost question
How do aftermarket diverter valves or blow off valves perform on our LTG engines? Do they allow the turbo to build boost quicker than stock or is it just the noise factor some prefer? Will they throw a CEL without a tune? Which brand if any is best?

If you want a way to build boost faster at lower rpms, do intake, downpipe, and intercooler. I can hear mine as early as 2200rpms.
A true blow off valve will cost you a few ponies and Turbo smart is the only brand that makes a replacement for the stock diverter. Go fast bits makes a stronger adapter while using the OE diverter.

https://zzperformance.com/collection...be?zCountry=US https://zzperformance.com/collection...pe?zCountry=US These three items will change a lot in terms of sound and performance. I got a CEL once every 2-3 weeks or so due to the recirculating valve, but it was easy to clear with a $20 reader I purchased on Amazon and my phone. These cards do not need a full CAI...the choke point is the intake tube. No tune necessary unless you want to eliminate that occasional CEL. Well worth the $800 or so. That said...do those 3 things AND a tune and you'll be in love.

Installing a blow-off valve in a car designed for a bypass/diverter valve will vent metered air to atmosphere. The A/F mismatch will cause problems and maybe a CEL. Probably lose a few HP due to over-rich mixture too.

Never got hesitation problems, no CEL's on mine at all or ever came up. Then again, it's a turbo smart "diverter" valvve that does exactly what a bov does. It releases pressure into atmosphere versus recirculating to the turbo. Yes, you do loose a little HP due to the turbo having no pressure and starting from scratch.
