Arrow IGLA Immobilizer Customers - FEEDBACK PLEASE

Hey Team,

For those of you who have the IGLA system, I am interested in hearing your feedback.

Do you like the system? Would you recommend it?

Any issues? or, what else would you recommend in its place?

I got the IGLA system awhile ago and for what it provides. I'm quite happy with it.
I really like how that it just lets the car work as it came from the factory, remote start was a big thing for me that I knew I wanted to keep working(either from the Fob or the App).

I really feel like unless someone comes by with a tow truck my car isn't going to go anywhere unless I want it to.

Also for me the PIN isn't a pain to use, especially if it's configured to require a pin before driving. Though don't honestly think it is that bad either when it is set to inhibit start either. However I have to login into multiple systems a day for my work, so your thoughts might vary on this. Plus there is the option to also use the included Fobs for authorization, which makes the whole thing invisible when I tested using them. Though using the fobs comes with a reduction in security, ie if those stolen with your regular key then someone could potential drive off. That's why it's recommended if going to use them to not keep in the car, or your fob, and don't use them for service visits.

Actually have the car in shop right now, and set a temp pin and show them how to enter it and drive the car. So if something happens know for sure that someone in the shop isn't doing good things. Could also completely disable system temporarily using service mode, but again there is a reduction in security doing that.

Also don't use it alone if parking somewhere where I want even more security/deterrence, have some additional layers. I always have a OBD port lock on(just to slow them down), even though if they program a key not going to do any good. And also add a brake lock(which again might be enough for someone to walk away, and if not adds more time). Again things to add to time before they even can attempt to try and start the car. Figure that thieves may just give up before they get to even trying to start it.

Currently planning on add the OBD block upgrade to disable the OBD port entirely if not authorized by IGLA, and possibly also a Compustar system(not to stop a thief but deter/slow them down) still haven't decided on this one.

So have had no real issues, though if you have it set to stall the engine, and forgot to authorize it will end up with some codes that need to be cleared(they aren't real but just part of the process of how IGLA interfaces with the car's computers to prevent theft). Never really considered anything else as the system and what it did sold me. Plus seeing how many cars that have had it have been attempted to be stolen but haven't was a big plus, along with some of the additional modes like anti-carjacking that can be added. I live in a city where they are unknown so having that as an option was another factor.

The price for sure isn't the cheapest. But nothing else I looked at the time did what it does and what I wanted, so other things fell by the way side pretty quickly. My biggest concern now is broken windows, and other damage from failed theft attempts(hence considering adding the Compustar), but better than worrying if the car is going to be gone completely.

So to sum it all up, I would definitely recommend it.
Hope this helps!

Did you end up getting IGLA installed?

Oh, I've had mine since I got my ZL1, over a year. It adds maybe 3 seconds to starting the car normally.

Ask me any questions.

But I will say, I wouldn't own another car without it. Only way they are getting my car is push it / tow / flatbed. And for that, I had a hardwired GPS tracker with set Geo fences around home, work, gym, etc. Car moves out of that and I'll get a text / email.

100% worth the price of install ($1200) for the peace of mind of not having to worry about kill switches, fuel / starter relay interrupts, throttle body lock outs, etc.

what i don't like about it is they splice into your stock harness They need to cut the wire and connect the Igla. I have decided not to install it and did other options which work great and am in the same situation where it would need to be towed or pushed to take it and it didnt cost me over $1200

I went with the Ampire WFS400 self-install version and think it's great. I also did some other stuff at the same time, and did not have to cut my harness to install. Works like IGLA- no code, no start.

The cheaper one without RF stuff (I didn't want something that could be potentially hacked eventually)

This seems to be the exact thing I'm looking for! A DIY IGLA so to speak. I'm mechanically inclined but don't mess with wiring much. Can I ask how long it took for you to install? How difficult would you rate the install?

Lastly, I see you're from the states. No issues with initial purchase or shipping?

Feel free to respond her or thru DM. Thanks in advance!

Thanks
It took me a couple days on the weekend to do it the way I wanted, including doing other things for theft prevention at the same time, such as OBD port things, kill switch things, custom soldered cloth-taped wiring harnesses to pick up wires at factory plugs instead of splicing in, etc.

If I were to have just pulled apart the interior and spliced it in somewhere, it would have probably taken a day, with me taking my time and enjoying the process. That's the key, though. You need to put it somewhere deep in the interior where it's hard to get to- that takes time and some forethought. Lots of options, though.

If you have any electrical experience, it's pretty straightforward from a difficulty standpoint. If it's your first-ever electrical project, you'll probably want to phone a friend.

No issues with purchasing. Bought it just like anything else online, and when you go to purchase it does the currency conversion for you through the payment site they use. Shipping was only a few days. Surprisingly, no different than if I'd ordered it from within the US.

Overall, it was the path I wanted to take. I'm a cheapa$$ and couldn't justify $1,200 for $50 (or less) worth of electrical components. Plus I never trust anyone with my toys except myself. I also didn't want fobs or phone compatibility or anything else that could open exposure. I just wanted to punch buttons in the car itself, nothing else. This was that solution for me. Been very happy with it so far (about a year I think). Works great! Enter the code, car starts. Don't enter the code or enter the wrong code, car won't start. Simple and effective.

As I understand, this is actually the previous generation IGLA. They are/were all made by a company in Poland called SEO I believe. That may not be true anymore, but I think that's what I found when I did the research originally. Here's the website:

Great write-up Rob. A few questions, 1. Is it difficult to change the startup code? 2. If you take your car to a shop how do you deal with the code input?

Rob,

Thanks so much for the info! I too have additional anti-theft measures but believe this is well worth the time and investment.

Making the purchase today! Thanks for the guidance!

Look at the site provided by Rob... https://www.ampire.de/WFS400-LIN.htm...00-LIN&p=59260

Once there, scroll halfway down and click the Video tab, you can watch a youtube video that explains it all. Be sure to turn on CC for English.
