Katech Oil Pump

Hey,

Does anyone have a Katech Oil Pump in stock or are selling? I have a friend who's looking for one and they appear to be backordered everywhere.

That sucks... when I got mine, Katech said the same thing, but I found out BTR had 10 on the shelf! Keep looking and good luck!

Of all of the rare cars in the world that have parts readily available, THIS mass produced car just so happens to be one that parts will be hard to come by. How stupid is that?

The fact that Katech needed to design and engineer a better oil pump says it all!

Rare cars don’t have parts readily available, I came to this world for that exact reason. I’m not standing up for GM, but I’m certain oil pump availability is not an issue from GM, it’s an issue from an aftermarket manufacturer.
Get yourself a real rare car and you’ll understand when there are zero parts availability and zero aftermarket because demand is to low to make for a business case.

My suggestion, please call KATECH directly. I called in July and they told me 6 weeks. I got it in a week. I spoke with Mike or Zach. I did pay upfront. They told me they build in batches every 6 weeks. I hope this helps. It came in a nice package, all wrapped up and protected. I was impressed with the quality. I didn't need it right away, as I still have 4 years left on my GM warranty (purchased a 7 year GM extended just prior to end of 3/36). My concern was this would be a hard part to find, especially with the end of production. I was considering the purchase of a 2023 or 2024 ZL1 but decided against it. I think the 2017 ZL1, being a short production run (Nov 2016-April 2017) of only 2999 total sold units will have some historical significance. There were 49 ZL1's produced as testing mules, thus 3048 total production. GM Historical division passed that info to me. Only 409 total Hyperblue built. GM unable to tabulate for 6spd and color, but approximately 206 6spd's were built based on ratio of automatic to manual. 2017 was the 50th Anniversary and only ZL1 model year with "Fifty" badging on the car. I think if the oil pump is the only weak spot, this is a good investment, especially considering base price went from 61k to 69k. With dealer markup, I can't touch one under 78K and seen as high as 81k with my options. Complete madness.

Note: We are unable to cross tabulate to identify how many of the 3048 ZL1 had each of options listed above.

Build number: #1,127 out of 2,999 built for sale.

Build date: 3/14/2017

We're currently on roughly a 4 week cycle with batches of pumps.

We sell them faster than we can manufacture them.

Unfortunately this pump requires some outsource services for precision grinding and polishing which is where the hold up is.

Try GPI, Scoggin Dickey, Texas Speed, or BTR. They are all stocking dealers that place orders of 10+ at a time.

Mike,
Do you know if you are selling them to 2019-2024 LT4 ZL1 models because of oil pump failures?

It's hard to say what the end user is actually doing with them.

I would say most are used in LT4's.

My bet is there are oil pump failures in the 2019-2024's but just not as well known, if you are selling them at such a rate.
