Who thinks this is a little close

One slice of paper that is all that fits between my passenger side headers and bolt on the BMR motor mount bolt. I think I'm going to find the same thread on a 12mm head and loctite it. Either that or I shear the bolt head about 1/3rd the way off. I got lots of them from the old mounts.... Any other ideas?

Yikes, the problem is the headers... which headers are those?

More like a combination of two aftermarket parts that were obviously not tested together, as that'd be unrealistic. But, bashing the header in a smidge should fix it indeed

Not that it matters... but for the sake of discussion... It is my understanding and memory after doing mine, that the BMR has a lower profile in ALL dimensions than the OEM one. If the headers would fit with the factory mounts, they must fit with the BMR mounts.

Without seeing the issue myself, this is speculative, but I would love to know what brand header this was... as we all know, there was been big fitment issues with certain brands, more so than others.

Just whip out the zip cutter create some clearance, hell, it’s not like you can return it without paying out your ass, although you’re close to China. Don’t buy Chinese made headers from America because they’re still made from China.

You have a few options, one possible option is to mark the area of the bolt that is close to the header. My assumption is the bolt has been fully torqued to spec., if not do so. At that point mark only the area of the bolt that needs clearance. Move header enough to remove bolt and clearance the exact area in question. Replace bolt an tighten to spec. In order to nail the position you can mark the bolt head down to the flange. This ensures exact positioning of the head. Then proceed to fasten your header back into position.
Another possible solution is a reduced head diameter. You can check with ARP and look up the part, the only caveat here is to ensure the overall head diameter meets your spec., otherwise you may need a washer which may raise the head bolt too high. Personally I’d clearance the bolt just enough so it still functions and gives you sufficient clearance. Remember as the tubes heat up they move around which will likely reduce clearances even more.

My motor was not level and BMR sent me a set of replacement mounts. I could have added a couple thick washers under the mounts at the 2 subframe bolts but didn’t want to. The BMR mounts must be manufactured exactly correct or this will
Occur.

This is a common issue with the aftermarket, a lack of QC.

KPM Motorsports. They've worked and work with Hennessey on Australian products. They have their "Streetfighter" brand headers for RHD Camaros. There is a special crease where the Steering Wheel shaft will be. These headers look to be a quality product, But, Yeah, I doubt they were tested with BMR mounts (taking that fourth bolt hole on the Your Driver's side of the Block).

I think I'm going to Shear one of the ones that I'm not supposed to reuse. I'll shear about 1/3 off the top. Take a look and decide. Then maybe I can get a few more than a single slice of paper through.

I would clearance the header just slightly before I would cut on that bolt which might compromise the integrity. Clearancing the header isn't going to affect power.

Dimpling headers for clearance is a common thing.

That will hit and will trigger the knock sensors.

You need to message that primary, install a button head bolt, or both.

heat the primary with a torch and dimple it slightly. Doesn't hurt anything and is common practice. People have even had to do it with Kooks headers. Most header companies design products around the stock motor mounts and suspension. So when you change any of that all bets are off. And even some cars built on Monday don't have the same clearance as Wednesday.
