GOODYEAR F1 Supercar Tires- WHAT'S YOUR EXPERIENCE ?
Just read the Tire Rack reviews on this tire. Many from Camaro6 owners. The reviews were bleak. Complaints galore.
To be sure, some of the problems are owner related like driving in cold temps, etc. But others reported tread & sidewall cracking and the worse- sidewall bubbles. Going back to 2012, same issues today. What was/is your experience with this tire that comes standard on SS models ? Last edited by NovaSS4spdFan; 08-15-2023 at 06:32 AM. Reason: typo |

GYF1SC tires are standard on the SS 1LE, not the SS. SS comes with run flats, entriely different tire.
That said, I am on my second set, first lasted about 7500 miles, with a few track days. I LOVE the tires! Not very rain friendly, and absolutely do not drive when too cold. My car is stored over the winter, never had an issue with tires. No cracking, bubbling, or anything of the kind. These are flat out performance tires and they stick like glue! |

I went through several sets before going to all seasons. If it’s warm and dry, they’re great tires. If it’s cold or wet, or worse, cold AND wet, they’re crap.
For a daily driver these are a poor choice. For a car that only gets driven occasionally they’re fine. |

So many people have no concept of ultra/max summer tires, reviews are a crap shoot.
THe solid consistent thing with the SC3 is that it hydroplanes pretty bad. Wet I don't have an issue with but moderate to heavy rain, standing water, it's bad. You can be unprepared for it when it happens, it's just not made for those conditions, just as with snow/ice/cold temps, you have to know what it is and what it is NOT. That's not a mark on the tire, that's just not knowing. I would absolutely buy another set of SC3. |

These tires have a narrow bandwidth, and if not something one can deal with, these aren't the tires for you. You shouldn't use them below, like, 40*, and have to store them as such, and bring them up to temperature if you do, and all that. I don't drive the car in the rain, so can't comment. I agree with WhiteMale on his comment regarding reviews.
PS4s seem to be the popular choice.

I see you are in NJ and drive a SS I would not hesitate to get a set of Michelin A/S 3 or if 3 season then the PS4S.
That said, I love the Goodyear eagle f1 supercar 3 on my ZL1 but will be changing to PS4S for better wet driving. I have had no issues on the F1 SC3 even down to 38 but I am in NC, so weather is a lot milder

I thought they were horrible tires on my 2SS. They were nerve racking driving in warm summer rain. I changed them after one year and went with PS4s. I also run Sottozero 3s on a second set of wheels in the winter months.

2. Their are two track brackets I believe: one for F1 SC3's (stock) and one for SC3R and others. 3. Decent on wet but there are probably better options. 4. Cold weather below 40 degrees you are driving on a wing and a prayer 5. Suicidal on any amount of snow. 6. Poor on bad highways with wider tires and a lot of crowning or rut crowning (throws the car around up to 3-4 feet left or right if you are not prepared for it) Not really a knock on the tire, just road conditions can change rather or not the car can drive straight. 7. Drag racing - On a freshly prepped track they are pretty solid and perform well. Note: I have 305 rears. Upgrading tire width to 1LE standards was the first upgrade I did.

I had a terrible time in the rain on my 2016 once the tires wore down a little bit. At about 18k miles, they were almost undriveable in the rain over 45 mph or so. I replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and never had a problem after that. I did throw a can of fix-a-flat and a patch kit in the trunk though...

I don't like them for the same reasons as others have said. Goodyears came stock on my 2011 Corvette GS and I got about 12000 miles out of them with no track days (convertible), but several long road trips. I would have preferred Michelon's A/S runflats on my Camaro SS convertible for better ride, mileage, and wet weather performance. I'll be replacing the GYs when the budget allows.

And here we have the problem with reviews, people making negatives when they don't understand the full breadth of this tire. Too, people that list cars that aren't OE equipped with the SC3 chime in on the tire. Its tough to know where the wheat and chaff really are.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you drive a 650 hp car vs the stock ss at 455, I daily my car or used to before the engine blew, you probably have yours sitting in a garage when the temp gets below 40 degrees, and then you say the issue with reviews are such this way? Even 555R2 / R888R's have their hp limitations and some of the guys on these forums shouldn't be using those tires either. 800-900+ hp vs your 650 or the SS 455. So reviews are relative to what you drive, where you drive and how you drive.

I like the Goodyear SC3s for my ZL1! They perform excellent on hot, dry pavement but are loose feeling on rain wet roads. If I get caught out in the rain I usually just let up on the throttle and take it easy. I’m on the 2nd set and plan to get another set or Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires when these SC3s are worn enough to replace. I just haven’t decided which tires to get as of now.
