question on washing

So my question on washing the Camaro is do I need to put something in its vent slot on the hood and what type of products would be good to use and should I get my own sprayer that connects to the hose?

I started by watching a bunch of videos on YouTube. Water will drain through your hood vent, between the radiator and engine. I wipe that area clean after washing.

Idk what would be good to stop water from going thru the hood vents but if someone has found a simple way im all ears.
Worst thing is wash water discoloring the hood insulation.. I'm having that problem now, going to pop it off and pressure wash it..

You can't keep it from coming thru if your power washing. I took my water tray out because it doesn't let the heat escape. I drag race and nothing worse then heat soak.

its not going to hurt anything. I wash my motor every so often and have done for every car I have owned for 2 decades. What do you think happens in the rain. Water is ment to go through that vent.
When I do a hose wash instead of a rinseless and my motor is clean I will fold a towel up and put it under the vent so it doesnt make a mess of my clean motor

FYI - these cars are ALL put into a water chamber right off the assembly line at Lansing to check for leaks. They use hurricane strength winds to blow the water in every direction. So the hood vent and all components that could possibly get wet from water through it are all obviously designed and engineered to be soaked non-stop and continue proper operation for the life of the vehicle.

I would suggest not removing the hood insulator and washing it, getting it wet makes it difficult to handle and it can fold and create creases. If you decide to wash it I would leave it on the car and if you take it off lay it flat and don't touch it until it drys. I leave mine on and take a leaf blower and blow as much water out as I can. If you have an extractor you could also use it to clean it in place.

Pressure washing might not end well, you could end up damaging it.. These cars a made to be driven in the rain, but not with the hood up.

Soap, water, microfiber towels, and a hose. Nothing more, nothing less.
