Modded A10 Redlines 5th

So, while in manual mode, my car like does this weird thing from 4-5th and it like shifts but acts as though it redlined and car completely stops going. Not sure what it is from but I previously had trans tune and figured it was from that so I had them remove the trans tune and it still does it while manual shifting. But, if I throw car back in drive rather than manual it will shift normally.

What is this from?

Does this happen near 7000 rpm? If so, it has to do with torque managment in the ECU.

Wondering if they reverted the normal mode sift points, but left the TUTD shift points modified.

When you get even close to a 7k rpm shift point, the ecu can anticipate an overrev condition and cut power. Ive seen it start as early as 6600 rpm... so many factors to consider... would need more info like a log and tune file to determine.

If your in the manual mode and your hitting the limiter your not shifting on time. Manual mode is all up to you. The tune shouldn't have anything to do with the manual mode and it shifts much quicker in the Auto mode and that's how the tuner would set it up.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm used to my setup that allows me to keep the stick in manual mode, but it will still upshift.

So I had kinda forgot that the stock tune won't upshift if the stick is in manual mode

Easily adjustable if you want it to shift in manual mode.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP. Which TCM tables do I edit to lower shift points at WOT? Is there a video on this?

Thats not necessarily true. Tuners can enable TUTD mode to upshift on its own like auto mode. This is used for doing burnouts at the track and roll racing. You can put it in TUTD (tap up tap down mode) and you can get into the gear you want. Then when you go WOT, the car will shift on its own and you dont have to use the paddles. This needs to be setup in the tune. Its pretty easy to do.

I’m shifting under 6500 RPMS. It is doing this before the limiter. It’s happening around 6350 RPM. Even when adjusting shift points closer to auto RPM range. Only time I get it catch is if I shift around 6000 rpm but it’s doing this thing when it grabs that gear as its trying to go through RPMs it struggles as if a car limits power when spinning.

I'm now told that TCM tables have to be edited to command 6000 rpm shifts and actually get 6400 +/- rpm shifts. I believe that can be done in Auto and Manual modes.

A10's are not that much different. I set them up to auto shift in manual mode as well.

At least on the A8, the shifts are controlled more by mph than by the rpm setting. In my experience it seems like the rpm settings don't do much, if anything, which is annoying. Not sure what the rpm tables really do.

The A8 shifting is controlled by both. The car must see both conditions (MPH First, then RPM second) to be satisfied before commanding the shift. So, if you set the WOT MPH shift point, do so just before the RPM you want it to shift at, because of the order in which it works.
