Lumbar pillow for ZL1 Recaro seats

Does anyone else feel that there is a lack of lower back/lumbar support with the Recaro seats in the ZL1, 1LE, or other Camaro 6s with the Recaro option?

I noticed that on some other cars I had - BMW M3, AMG C63 - those seats had some adjustable lumbar pad that I would always "max out" to give my lower back some cushion. With my ZL1, I seem to get back pain starting even on 1 or 2 hour journeys.

Well, I pulled the trigger on a possible solution.

Let me know if have this same issue and what solution you've employed. Thanks.

Aha, I usually search before I post, but didn't this time: I found a few other posts calling out the same. I'll let you know how these pillows work - and how cheezy they look in person!

Nope mine fit me like a glove. No need for extra padding.

I wish my ZL1’s Recaros had a bit more lumbar support, but I would probably be more annoyed with a pillow behind me than it’s worth.

Hey Plasar, check out this thread for a very promising power lumbar solution: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=587273

I am planning to do this one day, the reason I haven't yet is because I'm still considering the 1LE Recaros as well.

Oh, and here is a much more OEM looking lumbar switch that GM actually uses in several other cars/SUVs, I am going to install this one instead of the generic switch in the above thread: https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-pa...witch-84445926 (part number 84445926).

I've had Recaro seats in Mustangs that definitely needed lumbar support. I found lumbar bladders online which use a hand held squeeze bulb to pump air into the bladder. You have to remove the seat back upholstery to install the bladder, position it optimally and secure it under the upholstery cover. The squeeze bulb has a release valve similar to a doctors sphygmomanometer for measuring blood pressure.

You can find several offerings by searching the internet using search terms like "inflatable bladder lumbar support for bucket seats".

Thanks for all the replies! And Arpad, I appreciate the link to the custom solution in the forum. I think I’m too lazy to go to that level of awesomeness.

Update: I got the pillows. Of course, these are meant for the headrests, thus they have a tight elastic strap attached. They will not stretch enough to fit around the widest part of the seat back- so I can’t affix them in the lumbar area. But for what it’s worth, they work OK as extra support for your lower back, I tried out for 2 x 1.5 hour drives, they helped, and the quality looks good.

I recommend them as a quick and cheap work around.

I don't know man, please don't take it the wrong way, but I wouldn't want to be seen with these in the car The power lumbar solution is pretty involved indeed, I'm holding off on it, too, so we're in the same boat, heh...

You folks are ruthless - you are making it seem like I bought this on the QVC Channel and I’m secretly stashing adult diapers in these things!

Haha, you gotta do what you gotta do. Learned long ago not to give a sh!t what others think. Back pain sucks. Well all pain sucks... but like someone has grabbed ahold of your spinal cord with vice grips sometimes.

Just stash em in the rear footwells when you arent using them. No human can sit back there anyway so the secret is safe.

I have to say they look a little to small and "cute" to be cool, but again if they work they work.
