Sport v Track mode

I've run mine in Sport 99% of the time since I bought it, but on this morning's outing, Track actually felt faster. Based solely on my recollection, it seems to me that the consensus here is that Sport is faster on the track and strip.

There's a dissertation here somewhere on the various modes but I don't believe it says which is faster.

Where are you seeing "the consensus that Sport is faster"? Drag strip maybe with a non 1LE and Magneride settings for launch, I don't know I have a ZLE and have never tried drag racing.

On a road course in a ZLE, Track mode and PTM Race is the fastest WITH the "nannies" still engaged--which is wise for 99%+ of drivers.

The true fastest mode for a GREAT driver on track, like my old coach who set some lap records on tracks, is ALL stability control including PTM FULL OFF. But you better be a truly great driver to handle that or you will crash your ZL1.

I don't recall which model the ZLE driven by Bill Wise was in when it set that fast lap on the Nurburgring. I'm guessing all stability control FULL off, and that takes balls on the Ring at those speeds--the guardrails and deadly trees are so damn close.

I feel obliged to direct link this video as it's unlisted (ie impossible to find) on youtube. Balls of steel indeed, taking some turns at 120-130.

Any idea on why they would unlist the video?

Thanks for bringing this up, I missed this video and saved it. With the improvement in tires since then, even a better lap time is capable. There was a comment on that video that made me giggle: Who was the driver? Bill Wise. The Suspension Engineer at Chevrolet. He has gigantic balls.

You're welcome guys. I watch this clip once or twice every year and it still amazes me.

Heh, those poor 3Rs were wailing and begging for mercy in almost every corner

No, but who is surprised anymore at the weirder and weirder decisions GM keeps making...

I've only made five passes at the strip with this build, and all were in Sport with TC off. I'll try Track PTM mode next time. This morning's cruise was also with TC off in Track mode. I didn't use PTM.

Of the posts I've read the informal consensus seems to be Sport for drags. I'm less sure about what track guys have said except I believe the author of the post I referred to with the table that shows all modes/settings said the ZL1 is faster in Track with all nannies off. I'm betting nannies were off on the Nürburgring ZL1's runs.

That is strange, I watch this video regularly. I just typed ZL1 1LE Nurburgring into YouTube and it popped up as the first and second videos.

I'll try not to derail this thread, so just a short answer: no, those you found are low quality rips that some lowlife youtubers resort to for views and clicks.

I've seen a lot of recommendations to use Tour for the drags because it softens the suspension for more squat and less spin at launch.

Ok man, its not that serious. They are literally the exact same video. IDGAF if it was officially released by GM or not. Thanks for posting the "real one", GM is the lowlife for removing it from YouTube so we can't see it.

I have too but I believe that certain functions don't work like PTM. I can't recall which ones don't work when you're in touring. Might just be my tune
