ZL1-1LE

after speaking with way to many dealers are they making a ZL1-1LE for the 2024 model year-Then the other question is are they making a 2024 ZL1 since a dealer Stingray chevrolet told me they are not going to be made for the 2024 model year. Is this the way they want to end the Camaro run total chaos with dealers not knowing what is going on.

TIA
Mark

It seems like there is total chaos. Is Mary aware how this is impacting the company?

They are on constraint, they are making them but not many.

Any GM doesn't care what we think be cause we are buying whatever they wanna make.

That's going to stop for me when they start making them as EVs, I just can't change my lifestyle for a car.

Stingray has a deposit from me that is over a rear old for a ZLE. I’ve also have tried numerous times to buy the rally green zle that sits in their showroom. They don’t see to care and once I’m sure the 24’s are gone I’ll ask for my deposit back

Not wanting to miss out I did find my 23 rapid blue zle and I feel very lucky to have done so

Good luck in your search

Called GM marketing and they did confirm they are building the 1LE Zl1 and then it also came to price gouging and was told for what it is worth to call GM and they will try to make the price right and find a alternative car. Unless GM has changed to more customer orientated I have been there and at that time they did not care.

FYI- Recent listing on Ebay (still there this morning) '23 sharkskin ZL1 1LE couple hundred miles (looks brand new) in NC.
Probably MSRP'd at 81-82K listed at 89,900.
If you've been trying to find a new '23 this one could be a decent choice.

I asked chevy chat yesterday if the ZL1 1LE was expected to be under constraint for the entire 2024 model year. His response was that currently the ZL1 1LE was not under constraint.

So hopefully allocations are coming....

"Try to" find a ZLE in transport or on a lot.
Wont be great odds, but better odds than getting a 2024 ZLE.

Good luck.

Barra started working at GM when she was 18 years old checking fender panels and inspecting hoods, to pay her tuition while studying at the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University). She graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and has worked for GM ever since. She seems pretty smart and dedicated to GM and the automotive industry, and great products like the C6 Camaro, ZL1, C8 Corvette and Z06 were produced with her as CEO. Maybe not a perfect CEO but I think my ZLE and the C8 Z06 are the 2 best true sports cars ever produced by GM.

And lets not forget what is widely considered the best sports sedan ever made.

A CEO of a company GM's size is more of a public display than an actual executive these days. Whether or not she cares is immaterial, her hands are tied.

Any chance that GM would do such a thing as a non-dealership version, a non-mass production version of the ZL1 / ZL1 1LE and offer it via a GM High Performance Group only? So idea like order, pay, build, deliver? But through a motor sport company, such as Hendrick Racing or Copo etc. I mean is GM going to full disassemble, recycle, dump their production assembly line and line equipment etc., just because this car is to be no more? I think if GM see's this exist from the consumers point of view, they would brain storm on how to keep making sure they get the dollars that we the enthusiast are willing to pay. I know all this is a pipe dream, but with out dreams progress dies !

In short, GM doesn't really have a good reason to, based on the sales of the 6th Gen over the past few years.

Technically, the equipment should have been depreciated down to zero book value, so GM is not losing anything on that side by abandoning the equipment. The buildings, however, should have another 10 years or so to go.

If some of the articles are really true, GM is now trying to figure out how to make the EVs reuse some of the ICE equipment. This means that they are already thinking of how to get more value out of something that is not worth much.

I've been active in the Automotive plants for 48 years now (and still am/are), and I have done plenty of complete strip-outs and reworks of plants where everything goes to the recycler. (As a side note, I was involved with the original LGR system installation back around 2000.)

Hand built cars are the thing of Ferrari, etc., with the same relative costs. Who will pay $100K+ for a Camaro? I bet not enough to even make any sort of financial case.
