What have I missed?!

Some may, some may not, remember me… but I’m back! I always enjoyed this forum and I’m sure some of the guys are still around.

To recap a long story..I got rid of my beloved 2SS when I ordered a Charger ScatPack Widebody. Decided I then wanted more power, so I sold the 392 & ordered a Hellcat widebody. It was a very fast car with gobs of power, but at the end of the day it wasn’t the car for ME. I deeply missed having a 6 speed car and it just didn’t have that sports car feel to it (I feel the fact that it’s a sedan vs a coupe has a fair amount to do with that for me).

Fast forward, I caught wind that the Camaros are being discontinued. Then the great debate began. Firstly, do I want to risk trying to get an order or find one in stock or in transit. Then I asked do I want a 2SS 1LE, which would still be plenty of car, but it likely won’t be “dumb” enough after leaving a Hellcat. So ZL1 it is. I inquired on a sharkskin automatic zl1 in transit. Like usual, dealer advised it was pre-sold. Great. Then he shared that he also has another build scheduled for late July production. I said I’d take a look. It ended up being a 6 speed. While it isn’t necessary the exact build I would do from scratch…dealer is fairly close to home and it’s basically a guaranteed car. I called/emailed numerous dealers and the chance of ordering (and getting it built) seemed quite slim. Then I also may have that car until winter!

Anyway, I’ll be glad to be back!

God I wish I had your problems lol. I could probably afford to mod my car proper like then.

Hey Zaimer... Yep... remember you. Sounds like you've had quiet the excursion. I think there was also one other guy on here that went the Dodge route only to find himself back in a Camaro (ZL1). Welcome back!

Nah, have to time it right.

2020 SS sold when used market was nuts
2021 Scat sold when they announced the end
2023 ZL1 bought when market cooled, some.

zaimer,

I totally understand your path and thoughts about the Camaro as more of a sports car. Went 2017 2SS (engine blew up at 10k), to a 2020 Challenger scat pack (did not like - only engine was nice), ordered 2023 2SS 1LE but on chronic shipping delays, found a ZL1 MT6 on dealer lot and available. Signed paper work, paid for and pick up this Monday.

Any ways, it is good to have a back up plan. Not sure if this is still available but it is a ZL1 sharkskin and A10. Good luck!

Zaimer,

If I jumped on here around the time you took the time-out, then you have missed multiple, concurrent threads on:

1) The correct oil to use
2) A8 shudder
3) The Car and Driver "2025 Z/28" article

What were the "hot", redundant threads back in *your* day?

;-)

I had thought about these types of responses while typing. I know what it may seem, but I assure you its not LOL. I work for $$$ like most others on here. It was more about investing wisely in the correct cars and being able to capitalize in the market.

Appreciate it! To boot, I've never sat in a ZL1 let alone drive on. Obviously the interior really isn't that different.. and the powertrain is out of the C7 Z06 which I loved. I had a few rentals... crazy sound and stupid power.

Farmer was one I certainly remember - good to see he is still here! I remember he was getting his chops busted for switching to Mopar (which that actually was a nice car). Shocked to see you're back in a Camaro!

There is no doubt that a Camaro is a better sports car than anything Dodge offers. This is not bashing Dodge either, but I have a love for both. A couple of months ago I was down at Radford Racing School with a Challenger redeye. Those cars do handle quite well, much better than I believe most give credit for.

Cars are taking forever to ship out of MI?

Nice! MSRP deal? Be sure to post photos!

1. lololololol Tires get slashed around here for that kind of talk. But for the record, Mobil 1 is the correct answer.
2. A10 has been praised, but I say get the 6 speed and be done with it.
3. I'll have to look into that, but the "panther" edition is nothing short of a joke. It is about as embarrassing as Dodge's last call models.

I remember you and applaud your most recent decision, hope your ZL1 build/delivery will be a success story

...yeah, but WHICH MOBIL1? I wonder if we can use the European formula 0W-40 or will that cause the engine to grenade (see what I did there? nasty Friday poke at the oil thread genie )
