Buyer Beware
I’m getting close to retirement I’ve been looking at maybe getting another camaro for a project car I didn’t realize that there are so many posers out there I’ve looked at 8 camaro’s and out of 8, 5 had SS badges that were V6’s 1 ZL1 that didn’t even have a supercharger At least it had a V8 in it 2 that were supposed to be 14 or 15 year models that had 10-13 front ends and rear ends After looking at them, I just wondered how people have been taking? I’ve had 4 5th gens so I know what I’m looking for If you don’t know what you’re looking for do your research

An observation I've made over the years is that there are more 64-72 SS cars on the road today than there were in the 70s. Different strokes, I guess, but I have never understood the desire to badge a vehicle as something it is not and never was. But again, to each their own - every man has a different car dream.
And yes, due-diligence in all aspects of our consumer lives is the word of the day anymore.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was, a 2013 2SS. It was a good price so, I checked it out It had a SS hood and front end It had red SS badges I opened the hood and it had a V6 ran the vin number. It was a 13 LT Cloth seats no HUD no nothing It looked like a 2SS because my last one was a 12 2SS Needless to say I got mad and left

That’s why I put 2SS and not 1SS All 4 of my 2SS’s had leather seats HUDs Boston speakers high density headlights dark taillights I know a 1SS doesn’t have these unless you ordered some of them Somethings you couldn’t get with the 1SS package

Stacey David from Gearz built a truck, Project Copperhead, I believe it was called. He ran across somebody trying to sell a clone of it as the real thing, or something like that. He don't mind it at all if people build clones, I don't care either. Build cars, trucks, and have a ball! However, if you wanna sell it, don't try and sell it as the real thing!

Ok, yeah, I couldn't remember the exact details. I didn't think it was too big of a deal, because Stacey borrowed that truck along with the real Copperhead and pointed out the differences between the two. He wanted to educate people on how to spot clones from the real thing so they don't get ripped off, or something to that effect. Basically do your research in whatever car/truck you're after, so you know what to look for so you don't get burned. People who make a clone and try to pawn it off as the real thing needs to be punched in the face. |
