2023 LT1 Battery Disconnect and Amp Wire Location
Hello all,
I have a new 2023 LT1 and like many others, I was not impressed with the Bose system so opted for the 6 speaker IOR and to do my own small upgrade. I've done lots of stereos in the 90s and early 2000s but nothing lately with this much computer control. Are there any concerns disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes to add a power wire for a small amp? I read this previous post below but was more curious about alarm system and radio code resets. The last I did this on a computer controlled vehicle was replacing the battery on my previous 2017 VW GTI. It took about 3 restarts and drives for everything to eventually come back. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...ery+disconnect Also, where is everyone tapping for power? This will be a small 5 channel amp so only 8ga and 60A max (about 30A draw). Has anybody figured out how to properly use the open 60A and 100A terminals on the battery post? Looks like a 1/4" Fast-On but I didn't think they were rated for that much current. Thanks, Rick |

I've disconnected my battery many times for my audio installs in my 21 2SS and the only thing I had to do was reset the power windows. That just takes a few seconds. I've never noticed any other issues.

Thanks, good to know! Does that have to do with how the windows come down slightly to open/close the doors? I think I read somewhere the process comes up automatically on the driver information center.
Thanks, Rick |

When ever you disconnect the battery you are just re training the window motors for their express open and close feature. The instrument cluster walks you through it, takes about 30 seconds. Disconnecting the battery is completely normal and can be done for far longer than a few minutes and nothing will be messed up.

Thanks, I'll stop worrying about it then. You wouldn't think there would be an issue since batteries don't last forever, but you never know these days.
Thanks, Rick |
