87 mm to 95 mm Throttle Body
So I was watching Engine Masters on Motor Trend TV.
They went from a 90 mm throttle body to a 103 mm throttle body. There was no significant horsepower increase, however the torque curve changed significantly and became much flatter over the entire usable range of the engine and increased to close to redline. What results have other people achieved by installing the LT 5 throttle body with no porting? |

I just put a stock LT5 (95mm) throttle body and non big gulp roto fab intake on my car. The throttle is way more responsive to the pedal input. Once tuned it should improve even more.

That was another pint made during the engine masters show.
One of the other things that happens when you go to a larger diameter throttle body is the throttle response is quicker or snappier. Good to know you feel the change was an advantage. Let us know once you get the tune nails done and see some resulta. |

Don't forget the other thing they noticed going from the 90mm to the 105mm TB is they needed extra fuel above 5,500RPM.
The stock tune can't adjust for that.

Well, it depends on the control scheme they were using on the engine in the episode. I'm guessing it was a Holley setup or something, and likely no MAF.
In the stock ECM, on a stock MAF setup with the stock intake tube, it will adjust for the extra fueling needed as the MAF meters additional airmass. Fueling and timing will adjust accordingly, based on the reported airmass.

I'm running a stock 95mm on my 2022 Lt1 with 2300 Maggie, TooHighPsi port injection, RotoFab 4" Small Gulp on E67. Plenty of flow, you will need to adjust the Maf curve if you go to a 95mm.

The Engine Master show is Season 8 Episode 4 if you want to watch.
And yes I believe you are correct about the Holley setup. At the end they went to a Tunnel Ram set up which is not possible for our engines. |
