Replacing Supercar 3r with Supercar 3
*edit*
I didn't verify the tires I had were actually Super Car 3's so this post is pretty useless. So I think I will be coming up on end of life for my stock Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R's that came stock with the 1LE. I have been shopping for some tires and I know the blanket opinion is basically just get the Michelin PS4S. I used these tires quite a bit on my Stinger and they are great tires. For the Camaro, a set is about $2000. There are Supercar 3's available on tirerack for about $1500 dollars. I don't really drive my car in rain as I work remote. Are the PS4S the go to tire because it is just really great in all scenarios? If I can save myself $500 on a set of tires, and the only downside is to not do anything dumb in the rain, then I think that would be a good tradeoff. Are there any other drawbacks to going the Supercar 3 route?

Super car 3s are a great tire, much better than even the PS4S. I thought the 1LE came stock with supercar 3s not 3rs?

1LE does come stock with SC3, SC3R is only on ZL1 1LE, and 19", not 20"

I just checked and yes they are SC3's. I think I read somewhere they were 3R's and I didn't verify. I thought the 1LE get the SC3R's and the regular SS get SC3. That is good then, I am definitely going to get the SC3's and save $500 over the PS4S. Thanks for the heads up.

Well now that my dumbass knows I was on SC3's the entire time, the tires will be fine for me in the rain. Easy on throttle, especially when turning. If I see heavy rain, I just won't leave. I finally got a garage and I'm now really spoiled with how long my car stays clean. Before the car looked gross after a few days and now I have been going for like 2 weeks and car still looks great, I always clean off front of bugs and anything but much more easier to maintain.

Standing water not fun, but just rain and wet, take it easy. I, of course, prefer NOT to be in the rain, but it happens occasionally! I considered PS4S, but cost vs the how many times I would need the rain traction? If I daily drove, yes, but this is a fun car. Commute, road trips, certainly, errands, you bet! It is driven as often as weather permits. Plus, WAY better for track duty when I can! PS4S would lose a bit in that application Garages rule!!! Enjoy your beast! |
