Navi option

Does the navigation come with internal storage and hard disk for storing music , otherwise its not required as wireless apple car play / wireless android auto should do the job

Any reason for opting for navigation?

I believe the navigation is done through sd card updates, for a disk to store music you can use a USB drive in either of the two USB ports.

Personally, navigation hasn’t been a necessity since CarPlay/AA but the only time I think it’s needed is the newer cars with their driving assistance, typically the map plays a part in predicting curves and lanes if the car doesn’t have the needed sensors for some form of self driving

No.

I have it. Never use it. Waze (or google maps) on Android Auto is SOOO much better in every way.

I ordered and use the built in Nav on my ‘21 ZL1 from time to time. It works pretty well even with spoken commands. I often use the maps to manually look around for alternate routes when traffic is backed up. I’m glad I got it for the $495, but the again, I haven’t used Apple CarPlay so there’s that.

Hi all

The nav in my ‘22 ZLE is intertwined with the super intrusive On-Star system. You have to pay to use it. I never registered with them and want nothing to do with them.

I bypass all that, with better, free updating maps, by using Apple CarPlay.

If I had the energy to mess with it, I would remove the cellular segment of the On-Star system. I do not need another system tracking everything I do and everywhere I go. It’s bad enough with the iPhone as it is.

Boss2k: Sorry, I’m not 100% sure how this went, but I remember in 2017 the “base” screen size was 7” and the optional with either Bose and/or Navi screen was 8” for the Gen 6. Navi option was reasonable at $495 (compared to like $2,000+ for Merc and BMW). Maybe the bigger screen is with the price even if you will just be using it to display Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Edit: OK, seems only base trim levels 1LS/1LT got the 7” screen.

Yeah, the only trims that got the 7" were LT cars that didn't have the Tech package/Bose speakers. The LT1 gets lumped into that group as well. One of their selling points pre-refresh was HD screen with the 8" but I believe the refresh made them all HD

Thanks yes it 8inches for ZL1 with out or without Navi and I think will skip the navigation as I see no use. Hope the Android auto works well with these cars
