Firestone Indy 500's. Junk or good value?

DT is running a $90 instant savings?

Any of you folks run them ?
Good wear, loud road noise etc ?

I prefer Michelins but the Firestone's are $300-$650 lower in price.

OEM will survive a race track. Firestones will not.

Does that answer your question?

Indy500 is the last street tire on my list before going into the junk category. It's the tire you buy when you want to cheap out, but don't want to buy something completely shit.

FWIW, there's quite a few threads online re: Indy500s vs XYZ tires.
go have a read.

I currently have Michelin 4S on my car and have had Indy 500s on a previous performance car that came with them brand new when I purchased the car used.
while the 4S are a better overall tire, the Indy 500s are not junk IMO for street driving. I wouldnt run them on a track tho unless you're looking to do some fun sliding around

Lol its not a track tire no idea why you think thats the part to lay out there in your criticisms.

I had a set on a mustang i liked them really great street tire, the price point is inline w the firehawk name. Otherwise if they still called it the bridgestone re003 youd pay more. Tire has a great rep under that name plate.

Man I was all set on buying a set of these for street use with 2-3 track days a year. I know they don’t grip as well as some others, but if they are truly not worth the savings then I might have to stick with OEM or try the PS4S. The 500s are about $1000 vs $1600 so it is potentially quite a significant savings!

You really don't want to track that tire at least not thinking you're going to get the best out your car in speeds or laptimes. But again that's not what it is and bagging on it is just being ignorant. Most of that is if you can afford a better tire then that's what you can probably do but if you can't the 500 is a really great tire for street use and running it hard on back roads.
What's stopped me buying a second set was, at least Tire Rack, was only showing a 305/35 at the time and I didn't want a 35 aspect.

Well that’s good to know! I looked again and at the risk of going too far off topic: anyone have experience with the Nitto NT555 G2? They are the same price as the Firehawks. Or are the Michelins, factory Goodyears, and Conti DW truly worth the extra? I’m willing to pay more if they will wear better, but I don’t care as much about the lap times.

Both NT555s and Indy 500s are fine for the street.
