‘23 rear spoilers

Hey Guys,

I’m about to take delivery on my ‘23 SS convertible and I don’t necessarily like the three stanchion spoiler that comes with the car. Are there any other rear deck spoilers that might work?

Thanks…

Probably aftermarket options that are for a Convertible specifically. I believe any Coupe spoiler is not a direct fit and you have to take into consideration of the radio antenna in the spoiler. Which is why if you buy a spoiler I think it has to be specifically for Convertible.

OP,

I've done some research into this topic also.

(One thing I'm not sure about, as mine is a 2016, is that the backup camera lens is down at the upper cutout of the license plate. If that's still where that lens is on the 2023, then perhaps you wouldn't be losing that feature. But as regards the digital rearview mirror camera, I either don't have it, don't use it, or it didn't exist in 2016, so I'm sure Farmer Fran is correct.)

I inquired, at a well-established body shop, how much it would cost to completely remove both the stanchion spoiler *and* the sharkfin, then fill in the holes; I find it a bit incongruous to have a stanchion spoiler on a convertible. Believe it or not, I DO use AM/FM, but not Sirius, so they'd need to re-wire the radio antenna, but simply ("simply") remove Sirius for later or re-sale use. After a lengthy and detailed analysis and discussion, the quote came in at around $750, obviously including paint matching.

So, if you wanted a different spoiler, but planned on keeping the sharkfin, then at least that portion of the cost would go away. Still, you'd have to either:

1) find something that *exactly* matches the existing three holes; or
2) fill those holes and create new ones.

A search of previous threads on the topic suggests that solution #1 is unlikely, if not impossible.

Solution #2, because of the extra work of creating the new holes, would add back some portion of the "savings" from not having removed the sharkfin.

Total guess here, but let's say you'd be looking at NOT LESS than that same $750 for the work, also not including the cost of whichever other spoiler you chose.

Keep us posted for sure; would love to see what you do, and how it turns out.

@The Chief (tm), yes the only thing I’d have to worry about would be hole and sharkfin alignment. I’ll probably order one that I’m interested in and see if it would work. If not, I’ll send it back. If so, I’ll send pics. Thanks

There are some threads where people moved the radio antenna from the spoiler to the trunk lid if you want to search for them. Some of the aftermarket blade spoilers might cover all of the mounting holes avoiding the extra body work. You might even find one that would allow you to mount the rear view camera in it to retain the functionality (or modify it to add the camera). A friend installed an aftermarket blade spoiler and commented about the loss visibility in traffic with the rear view mirror so that’s something to consider.

The coupe Sharkfin on roof with rearview mirror camera, trunk has backup camera

Vert Sharkfin is on the trunk lid and rearview mirror camera is on the middle pedestal, trunk has backup camera.

Fran,

My 2016 definitely has the backup camera pointing downwards from the upper side of the license plate cutout, at the top part of the bumper. (Next to it is the trunk release button.) If it has been raining overnight, the backup view on the DIC can be blurry and spotty because droplets have found their way down onto the little half-spherical lens, even with the car not having been in motion.

So Chevrolet *has* made an improvement to the design, sometime between then and now!

Yes, the backup camera is on the trunk lid.

The Rearview mirror camera is on the pedestal of the spoiler on a Vert.

Envious of the change. Seemingly minor, but functionally rather meaningful.

For what it's worth you might look in to> americanmuscle.com < they always have stuff that might be what you want. I know for my vert. I look at the web for updates.
