Garbage article about why the Camaro is failing.

I shouldn't read this crap, pisses me off. Not sure if this is the way to share this. I can agree on some things, not many, but some. It just seems like a article to bash the camaro. He calls the 5th gen a "Hideous run" and the 6th gen was to fix the problems that plagued it.

Nothing personal, but I don't give anything negative, the time of day.
Maybe I live in a fantasy bubble. But it's my choice . Happy Motoring

Chevy really botched the facelift in 2019, and tried to make up for it in 2020. No other updates were given to the car, and it wasn't marketed at all.

The Camaro is smaller, more purpose built car unlike the Mustang and Challenger. The mustang is a lot easier to drive (better visibility), and both the Mustang and Challenger have a lot more space.

It was a fine line for me picking between the Mustang and the Camaro, but I wanted the better chassis, more reliable engine (LT1 vs Coyote), better transmission (Tremec vs Getrag), and more rare car so I went with the Camaro. Both cars have their advantages / disadvantages.

I think with the 2019 redesign, the Camaro took a bad hit and turned some people off. The C8 stole the spotlight and hasn't looked back since then. Now it seems the Corvette is going to be the only sports car from GM anymore. Who knows what's going to happen to the Cadillac V-Series once the V-8s get axed. The days of affordable performance are coming to an end.

nothing really surprising in the article. same issues that have been discussed or experienced for years here.

though i don't think buyers really care much about official complaint numbers in terms of reputation. nobody knows that crap but industry insiders.

other than that, it's pretty soft on criticism. it could have been much more direct and harsh.

there's obviously a problem with the car and how it's positioned with the public or it wouldn't be a failing model. whether that's a marketing failure or a design failure or a shift in public desire. or a mix of all them. What's obvious is it's not imaginary.

and i say that not wanting to drive a different car than my Camaro. i just assume I'm part of a too small niche.

Exactly, and I say that as an "ex-foreign dude" myself Not what I'd call quality journalism.

How is that relevant? Do Lexus and BMW not exist where you live? With the SS creeping into M2 Comp territory and ZL1 approaching M4 territory, cross shopping most definitely happens. I did, and I know some youtubers have as well. The Camaro offers performance on a budget, but if you don't care about that then there's nothing it offers for you. Just about any Lexus or BMW are more pleasant to drive. If the M4 didn't start at $30k+ over an SS I would for sure be in one over my Camaro. You have to pay more for performance with those brands, just like anything else in life.

agreed...

Mine was between the Challenger and Camaro. The Camaro upgraded heated/cooled seats sealed the deal for me. The Challenger seats looked early 1990's. IMO

They always talk about how few cars have sold recently, but if you only make 26k Camaros a year, you can only sell 26k.

Not seeing anything in the posted article that should make anyone upset, OP. Other than why did GM ask current Camaro diehards what they wanted in the Gen6 rather than people that didn’t consider the Camaro at all. In most clinics GM would ask people that. For the Gen6 they did not.

I remember going into the studio with a friend around 2011 and seeing the NG Camaro. Its starting point was a 7/8ths Gen5. Didn’t look any different, just smaller.

But Camaro5 and 6 have a LOT of people that take anything negative about the Camaro as someone calling their baby ugly.

Gen6 is an awesome car. It was just designed for a very narrow and specific customer…..the Gen5 Camaro buyer.

GM even told us at launch they didn’t care about rear seat room. Remember when that said they didn’t care because Consumer Report only awards 1 point for rear seat room in a coupe so they didn’t worry about it? Yep.
