Kooks and wiring loom?? Question

So i read on here that several guys had burned their wiring loom on the passanger side. So i have just done my kooks 1 7/8s headers last week and decided to take a look. There was nothing in Kooks literature about moving or anything with that loom. But upon taking my coolant take up out of the way i did see it was a bit close. Not horrible but lil closer than id like. So i made sure the two clips securing it to the frame were in and secure ... check. Then i started thinking of ideas. I have a small piece of angle metal 1 in by 1 in and i am.goin to drill a small hole in it and then bend the side with a small lip so the wiring harness can be held all the way against the wall. For the time being i found some reflective heat wrap with sticky back cut it into 5 strips and wrapped the loom all along the area of concern and then zip stripped them to keep them tight. This added rigidity to it as well and made it move over further. Like to hear thoughts on this thanks

Keep going with the insulation toward the firewall until the harness turns away from the heat.

As long as you secure the wire loom to the side wall via clamp or other means you will be golden. I did this as well when I installed my headers. Also, look at the other side to make sure the steering shaft does not come into contact with the headers as well on tight left/right turns, as this was a common problem too. A couple easy fixes to that too.

Yeah the kooks fit super nice lots of space between steering shaft and they even include a wrap around heat blanket to keep it safe. But thanks for the info.

If you have your headers Ceramic coated inside and out that is half the battle.

Zip ties might melt and the insulation can fall of you should use stainless wire bands or ties to secure your insulation.

In many cases we relocate wire harnesses up and away from exhaust components.

There are a couple of the plastic ties but yes there are 4 metal ties on it they look black but if you zoom in you can see they are in fact the metal ones but ty i do agree with you. They also have velcro holding them together as well. I measured the distance and i have almost 4+ inches away from the nearest header.
